In fact the effect is the same and Prilosec (generic omeprazole) is far cheaper. Save your hard earned money. ...Read more

Thus you will require close monitoring by your doctor and be on the lookout for any adverse effects. ...Read more

Yes: Zantac (ranitidine) is actually used to counteract the irritation from taking advil. If you are taking advil on an ongoing basis it will probably not help with tomach pain (counteract the irritation effects). But if you have stopped the advil zantac (ranitidine) will help any irritation causing the discomfort to heal more quickly than it would do without any treatment. ...Read more

Can I take guaifenesin 400 mg/phenylephrine HCl 10 mg safely with these meds
What do you mean by: safely ? There have not been any drug-drug interaction studies with Linzess as yet. There is a risk of serotonergic syndrome with combining guaifenesin, phenylnephrine, Cymbalta (duloxetine) and Vyvance. Ambien is for occasional use. I would not combine it with Valium. Other than that you're fine. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Zantac works on the anti-histamine receptor in the stomach, also should take it before meal. If you been advised to take both medicines for your stomach pain, take the ppi before the biggest meal of the day (or the most symptomatic time) first. ...Read more

Will taking 40mg of omeprazole give you nausea? How long does it take at that dose to leave the body?
Omeprazole: Omeprazole blocks acid secretion by the stomach but nausea would be a most unusual side effect in my long experience prescribing it. Generally a dose is prescribed for once daily consistent with a 24 hour effect. In your case, if this reaction occurs every time you take it, it is a bone fide side effect. Your pharmacist may have more information about this matter. Zantac may be better tolerated. ...Read more

I have been prescribed omeprazole 20mg, it that to strong of a dose, as I don't have many bouts with reflux and heartburn as I originally did?
The usual dose.: 20 mg of omeprazole is an average dose. Very often patients need to remain on maintenance therapy to keep acid reflux under control. A lot of patients who cut back the dose or discontinue it will have their symptoms recur rather promptly. Talk to your doctor about how long you should stay on the medicine. Antireflux measures help also. Good luck. ...Read more

Not unusual: It may not be "normal," but WebMD says headache is a common side effect of omeprazole. Your body may adjust and the headache may go away; if not, omeprazole may not be good for you.
