If I have magnesium deficiency due to prilosec, how long after discontinuing prilosec until my magnesium levels return to normal? Almost immediately?
Is pepcid (famotidine) better to take than prilosec? I've heard prilosec can cause magnesium deficiency and pepcid (famotidine) generally has no adverse side effects. True?

Vitamin d 2000-4000 units a day is reasonable. Do not take if you have a history of sarcoidosis or previous elevated calcium levels

Can a magnesium deficiency kill you immediately? Or is this only in longstanding untreated magnesium deficiency?
Hypomagnesemia: Hypomagnesemia is seen in chronically malnourished people especially if they are on diuretic therapy. It is often seen in patients in hospital ICU's. Although it can have affects on heart rhythm it usually does not contribute to sudden death. If less than 0.7 it will need to be corrected by oral and even intravenous supplements. Magnesium together with B6 can be helpful in calming the glutamate system in your brain that promotes agitation. Magnesium supplementation certainly may help panic attacks, although it is not the main treatment.

I've been dizzy all day, I'm taking 20mg Omeprazole twice a day and 250mg Magnesium Taurate. Which one is likely to cause dizziness? Is this serious?
Likely neither: I am sorry to hear this. Omeprazole has only a 1.5% reported rate of dizziness and Magnesium Taurate also rarely if ever causes dizziness itself. It is unlikely that your dizziness is due to either of this medications. If your dizziness is affecting your life to the point were you can't function than I would suggest seeing your doc. Otherwise continue to monitor, and see if the dizziness goes away. ...Read more

Headache, diarrhea: If you're referring to headache and diarrhea, these are both very common Prilosec side effects that should resolve once the drug is discontinued. Many other acid blockers in the ppi class share these side effects.
