Health fraud: Your husband was deceived by a phony remedy that produces weird bowel movements that the operators tell the victim are gallstones. Of course it didn't work. I'm glad he has a sensible wife like yourself. You're not going to dissolve gallstones taking stuff by mouth. If they need attention -- and many don't -- get with your physician and/or a good surgeon. ...Read more

My mom 68 yo. Is olive oil n lemon juice for flushing the gallstone could work for her ?

My mom 68 yo. Is olive oil n lemon juice for flushing the gallstone could work for her ?

No: Nothing has been found to dissolve gallstones. If she doesn't have gallbladder symptoms leave the gallbladder alone. If she has symptoms, the gallbladder should be removed if she is otherwise healthy. ...Read more

Is gallstone cleanse effective so to avoid surgery? It is a type of diet where u eat 4x apple juice w/ olive oil and epsom salt for 6 days.

Is gallstone cleanse effective so to avoid surgery? It is a type of diet where u eat 4x apple juice w/ olive oil and epsom salt for 6 days.

May not be.: Gallbladder (gb) surgery is usually proposed for a poorly functioning gb, ie: lowered ejection fraction, associated with abdomen RUQ pain. A gb "cleanse" may not make any difference; but one could try and see if it works for you. ...Read more

Is it effective to remove gallstone using the method, of apple juice, epsom salt, and olive oil with lemon.

Is it effective to remove gallstone using the method, of apple juice, epsom salt, and olive oil with lemon.

Wives tale: Olive oil will provoke the gallbladder, and could challenge the possible passage of stones, depending on their size. No drug will be of help. Stones come from a diseased/dysfunctional gallbladder, and with time bring symptoms. You won't fix your gallbladder with this concoction. Avoid fats and oils, and consult a surgeon, sooner than in the (lat)er. ...Read more

Sure: Eat anything you want as long as it doesn't cause symptoms. If some foods disagree with you (ex. Fatty foods can sometimes cause pain in patients with gallstones) then avoid them. ...Read more

Person diagnosed with gallstones, is it safe to try epsom salt, apple juice, olive oil, and lemon juice cleanse?Nutritionist gave this recipe.

Safe but won't work: This is an attempted cure but is really quackery. There is absolutely no proof that this works at all. People will believe they are seeing stones in their stool but this is not true. Regardless, it is safe to try this but it won't work. ...Read more

Is olive oil good when you have a stomach ache?

Is olive oil good when you have a stomach ache?

Not specifically: Olive oil would not be expected to relieve abdominal pains. You need to see a doctor for evaluation. Olive oil could make you feel worse if your problem is from gallstones or pancreatitis. I guess that it may be possible that olive oil could transiently reduce gastritis symptoms for some but would not be exoected to have long term success. Excess oil could cause diarrhea for some. ...Read more

My husband was diagnosed w/ gallbladder polyps & stones. He passed out green&black feces after drinking olive oil & lemon juice. Were that stones?

My husband was diagnosed w/ gallbladder polyps & stones. He passed out green&black feces after drinking olive oil & lemon juice. Were that stones?

Unlikely: Because gallstones would need to pass through cystic duct and common duct before it can enter the intestine. Both of these areas are only a few millimeters in diameter. If he is having pain from his gallstones, he needs to have an operation to remove diseased gallbladder and stones. No evidence that olive oil and lemon juice would help pass gallstones. ...Read more
