Old Fracture On X Ray
Clavicle: Yes it definitely could show up on in x-ray ...Read more
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
Somewhat likely : A Jones Fracture of the 5th metatarsal of your foot will frequently show up on x-Ray but not always. If your provider finds that you are tender over the 5th metatarsal but nothing shows up on x-Ray, an MRI can be ordered to look at the bone in more detail to find a subtle stress fracture or stress reaction (beginnings of a stress fracture). ...Read more
Fibula fracture, cast removed 6 weeks, fracture still not healed (gap). No boot ordered. X rays on profile. Worried about walking w/o boot. Advice please
Nondisplaced navicular foot fx. Looked complete on the X Ray. It's been 8 weeks still not healed and dr said 4-6 more weeks in boot. Is he right?
An: Acute X-rays could be negative, after a few weeks typically positive. An xray likely would show a fracture if it occurred months ago and did not heal. However an MRI would likely have also showed a fracture at the time of injury, A negative MRI means likely did not have a fracture. BUT false negative DO exist. No imaging test is foolproof but lets say its highly unlikely with a negative MRI ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can physio work for scaphoid ligament injury over a year old. Nothing showed on X-ray but MRI showed gap widening. Also wrist clunks on movement?
Prob. not: Scapholunate ligament injuries are fairly common and quite often late diagnosed.Physical therapy can help strengthen muscles in the hand but will not cause the ligament to 'heal itself'.If u r having pain in the center of your wrist and it causes painful 'clunking' w/motion for more than a year i would suggest seeing an ors w/ interest in hand injuries and think about having sl repair.Gl! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Did X ray on L ankle. It's written on the film "weight bearing", but I was putting all my weight on R leg, not left. Does X ray need to be retaken?
Maybe: Depends on your injury. Many times weight-bearing films can be helpful, but not always necessary. There are subtle findings in non-weight-bearing films that can indicate instability without requiring a weight-bearing film. Also, there is some question how accurate these films are because most people, like yourself, don't put full weight down secondary to pain. ...Read more
I fractured my foot on the job but 1 month after xray of fracture, xrays & MRI showed no fracture. 9 months later, severe pain still exists. Why?
Start over: An MRI shows evidence of a fracture even up to about 6 months after it occurs and is very sensitive, so that suggests your original injury read on x-ray as a fracture was not a fracture at all. There must be some cause if the severe pain persists, but you may have to start over with a complete exam and studies. Rsd is one possible cause to what you are describing. Thanks. ...Read more
Yes: Compression fracture of the spine is when the vertebral body (bone of the spine) has collapsed on itself. While the bone may heal, the loss of height of the bone is usually still seen and an should be apparent on CT imaging if that bone is included on the exam. However may need to have images reviewed in the sagittal and coronal planes for it to be seen. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Wrist bone contusion plus torn wrist cartilage tfcc. X ray shows my injuried wrist bones too close to each other. What can I do?
Grow cartilage: Most doctors do not believe, but we actually grow new cartilage in every joint in our body, every minute of every day. You need to wear out more slowly, and grow cartilage more quickly. Glucosamine works, but for the wrist needs to be given through skin by cream, or by injection. Oral pills do not work except for knees. www.blatmanhealthandwellness.com. ...Read more

10 weeks ago i was diagnose with a 5th metatarsal avulsion fx. My most recent xrays still show lucency. Can a healed fx still show lucency?
6 months ago since putting metal plate to join the upper arm fracture, the recent X RAY shows no progress. Wait further for healing? 53 years lady.
Official xray report: Sounds like you have either a delayed union vs. non union of the bone. A delayed union is a fracture that still has the potential to heal though it may take up to a year or so to do so. Bracing and a bone stimulator can help. BUT if the X-ray shows signs that it is a non union then it is unlikely to heal without surgical intervention. Xray criteria for each condition are well documented ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Just seeing callus indicates that the healing process is in progress. Has the callus bridged the fracture? Has the fracture line been obliterated by callus? Such factors need to be evaluated to determine when increase stress may be placed on the injured area. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My son had an x ray yesterday and has broken his elbow clearly seen on xray a piece of bone broken away from the funny bone part. Will it need surgery?

8years ago I did ct scan for head
5years Xray for kidney
2months panoramic Xray for teeth
2week Xray of spine
2days mri of spine
Can this cause cancer?
No: All x-ray exposure is cumulative, but doses are minimized as much as possible. your Panoramic x-ray, for example, is less radiation than you would receive spending a day in the mountains, or two on the beach. If you are concerned, schedule an appointment with your General Physician for evaluation. ...Read more

Son had severe ankle sprain, and still has pain. Mri shows a pre stress fracture of talus bone with lesion on talus. What is pre stress fracture?
Is it broken or fractured is a question I am often asked. The answer is basically that a broken or fractured bone is the same thing. A fracture means a break in the cortex or the strong layer of outer bone cells. In an adult the average time for that to heal varies greatly but is often considered to ...Read more
