Is topically using coconut oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil & aloe vera gel (as homemade lash/brow serum) safe to use during pregnancy?
Pregnancy-safe oils: Castor oil and sweet almond oil may bring on early labor, if used earlier than term. Coconut oil and olive oil are safe in pregnancy. Topical vitamin E oil is felt to be safe, but may cause contact dermatitis in some people, as can topical aloe vera. None for cooking: None of these oils are healthy to cook with! most corn & canola oil is genetically modified so i would avoid if not organic. Sunflower is healthy raw. For cooking best choices are olive oil (for low heat- under 350 degrees) and coconut oil for higher heat. Possible: There is no proven scar healer out there that I am aware of, keeping the area clean and soft should help with decreasing the amount of scar build up. I have always thought that sunblock for the first year on a scar is important to avoid excessive scarring as sun damage can exacerbate a scar.
