Hi. How do I deal with dandruff. I've used shampoos and oils but my dandruff never goes away. I've had the problem for years. ?

Seborrheic dermatiti: It sounds like you are describing seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis causes an itchy, inflamed, scaly scalp that can contribute to hair loss. Dandruff does not: typically lead to hair loss, so i would see a board certified dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. There are many products used to treat dandruff, but you need to confirm this is what you have. Also there is no cure only control of the dandruff. OTC i love P and S shampoo and solution. Hair oil may be ok: Dandruff (seborrhea) is common. Shampoos with zinc, salicylic acid, selenium, or coal tar are sold in many stores. Nizoral shampoo (contains anti-fungal) is also available. Doctors may also recommend cortisone or kenalog (triamcinolone) sprays. Prevent dryness (don't wash hair too often).
