My baby is eight months old and weighs twenty pounds. I was wondering what dosage of Infant Tylenol (acetaminophen) I should be giving her in milliliters?
Cough syrup, Nosal drop and steam are not affecting much for my 1 month infant, can I give him nebulizer with saline water.
? irritants?: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages exposure to dust, fragrances, smoke & other irritants. This often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & SUCTIONING the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less. Cough syrups make them worse. Nasal drops without suction are a waste of time. ...Read more
I have a 9 month old baby girl. I accidentally bought children's acetametiphen instead of infant's. Do I need to go exchange it or is there a dosage appropriate for infants?
Fine to use: As long as the proper dosage per weight is given, it doesn't matter what preparation you use. The infant drop preparation is more concentrated & helps moms who struggle with kids to get the medicine down. Verify the concentration of the product you bought. Most have 160mg/5ml. The average 9m girl @ ~19lb would get 1/2 tsp every 6-8h. ...Read more
Dosage of Bromfed (brompheniramine) for 14 lb infant? Ped prescribed my 10 month old Bromfed (brompheniramine) for her cough: dose is 1/2 tspn/4hrs. Def not the right dose for her.
See below: Per fda recs, no otc meds for kids under 4 year old let alone under 1 year of age! And as per these meds for your infant, I can't understand why your doc would do this period! cough meds are not beneficial especially in and infant and can, in fact, cause problems like increase the risk of developing a pneumonia. I would stop the med immediately! ...Read more

Tylenol (acetaminophen) dosage for infants. My son is 10 months old and about 25 lbs I think? I can't remember his exact weight.
Is it alright to give an 8mo infant tylenol (acetaminophen) syrup just once a day at nighttime for teething pain and crankiness? For how many days can it be given?
Probably not: This disease is because of a defect in metabolism of leucine, isoleucine and valine, all present in protein. I believe that mead johnosn may be making a diet for this disease but it is a long time since I had the care of a msud patient----- a very difficult disease to treat and only diet can prevent the mental retardation that is otherwise inevitable. ...Read more

My baby has a slight temp and her eyes are puffy and a bit red. We gave her the min dosage of infant tylenol (acetaminophen). Mother was slightly ill this week.?
Sounds as if: Your baby is also becoming ill. Infants under the age of two months with a rectal temperature of 100.4 or higher should be emergently evaluated and not given Tylenol (acetaminophen). Older infants and children can be offered supportive and comfort care with pain/fever reducers until they have been evaluated by their pediatrician. ...Read more
Is there a practical limit for how long (days) acitaminophen can be given to infants if approperiate dose is being given at right intervals?
Less is better: While acetaminophen is considered safe if dosed appropriately & at proper intervals for short periods, there's no recommendation for max safe duration. However, studies (in adults) have shown adverse affects on kidneys, GI, and other systems with long-term use. If you think a child needs it for more than a few days in a row, then they need to see a pediatrician to address WHY they need it. ...Read more

Is colicaid safe to give along with omnacortil Forte? My child is on Omnacortil Forte syrup but he is having colic issue, can I give colicaid to him?
Colic: Colic occurs in infants up to about 4 months of age. The ingredients in Colicaid will not hurt your baby but have not been shown to help much either. If your baby is taking a steroid such as Omnacortil Forte (prednisolone), that illness takes precedence and I would avoid giving baby other treatments unless prescribed. Unsure if safe. ...Read more
