I'm 18 with no children and planning on getting an iud, what are the odds of my IUD being expelled? And is it true the pain will be much worse for me?

I'm 18 with no children and planning on getting an iud, what are the odds of my IUD being expelled? And is it true the pain will be much worse for me?

Minimal: The literature suggests the spontaneous expulsion rate for iud's is about 2% to 3%. The copper "t" iud is approved for women regardless of parity. The insertion procedure can cause some cramping, pain, and spotting - however, significant pain or discomfort during the procedure is uncommon. The benefit of the iud is that you get the most effective reversible contrception currently available. ...Read more

I am trying to get pregnant and I will be taking my IUD out after having it for a year and a half: what are the odds of me getting pregnant quickly?

Normal chance: Once your iud is removed your chance of pregnancy is what it normally is for someone your age. Wait one month after removing it before attempting pregnancy so the lining of the uterus is normal. Good luck. ...Read more

What are the odds of getting pregnant with the IUD mirena (levonorgestrel) I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive twice. What should I do?

What are the odds of getting pregnant with the IUD mirena (levonorgestrel) I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive twice. What should I do?

See a GYN MD now: Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud's, like all iud's, prevent pregnancies by preventing implantation of a already fertilized egg into the lining of the uterus. (endometrium) two positive tests indicate that you are pregnant, but the question is where? . The uterus or elsewhere. (tube) see a md to sort this out as tubal pregnancies are common when iud's fail. ...Read more

I had my iud removed. I had a normal period right after removal. I had unprotected sex the day after my period ended. What's the odds of me being preg

Small: You probably had sex before you ovulated again so you probably didn't get pregnant (but Never say Never, right?) Ovulation is usually 2 weeks after the first day of your period if you have regular cycles of 28 days. Otherwise, ovulation is usually 14 days before the first day of your period. (So if your cycle is 45 days for some reason, you ovulate on day 31) ...Read more

I had my iud removed last week and had a positive blood pregnancy test on Monday and a negative on Thursday. Is there a chance the negative could be wrong? I feel so pregnant but not due for period for another week. What are my odds. I want to be pregnant

I had my iud removed last week and had a positive blood pregnancy test on Monday and a negative on Thursday. Is there a chance the negative could be wrong? I feel so pregnant but not due for period for another week. What are my odds. I want to be pregnant

Testing too soon: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. ...Read more

Girlfriend started sugar pills for her period 4 days ago. So we had sex 2day while she was still on her period and the condom broke. She took Plan B and started bc again 2day. Preg odds? Iud?

Not likely.: If your girlfriend was on her period when you had intercourse, it is very unlikely that she will become pregnant. Typically that is the safest time to have intercourse if pregnancy is something you want to avoid. Normally a woman ovulates about two weeks after the first day of her period, and intercourse must occur within a day or so of ovulation for her to conceive. ...Read more

How does IUD work?

Stops Fertilization: Both the Mirena (levonorgestrel) and paragard iuds keep sperm from fertilizing an egg. Paragard--a copper iud releases copper into the uterus; copper works as a spermicide. Mirena (levonorgestrel) thickens cervical mucous so sperm cannot enter; Mirena (levonorgestrel) may also block ovulation. Both iuds may create uterine inflammation which makes it harder for the egg to implant even if it did get fertilized. ...Read more
