Can you please tell me the real odds of getting pregnant with your tubes tied?

Can you please tell me the real odds of getting pregnant with your tubes tied?

< 1% naturally: The failure rate of tubal sterilization is about 1%, so it would be very unlikely to conceive after having tubal ligation. It does happen. There is a high chance of the pregnancy being ectopic if one does conceive after tubal sterilization, so that would further decrease the chance of getting pregnant with a viable intrauterine pregnancy. Ivf would be best odds of getting a baby after tubal. ...Read more

I had my tubes tied 9 yrs ago and just recently remarried. We had a miscarriage in oct. 2011 how can we get pregnant again and how can we increase our chances of getting pregnant again and lower our risk of another miscarriage?

I : I am assuming you had a reversal procedure. Please reply if otherwise. To help pin point ovulation thus having a better chance of conceiving buy an ovulation prediction kit and follow the detailed instructions. As far as lowering the risk of miscarriage, this is nearly impossible. Most pregnancies that end in miscarriage are a result of the fetus having a chromosomal defect that is incompatible with life. There are other causes of miscarriage (clotting disoders etc.) but these are not usually considered until a woman has 3 miscarriages. Please see your doctor; after obtaining a detailed history from you and your partner he/she will be able to give more applicable advice. I wish you the best of luck. ...Read more

What would be the odds of a woman who had uterus ablation, tubal ligation getting pregnant when she/partner used perfect withdrawal and Plan B in 24hr?

What would be the odds of a woman who had uterus ablation, tubal ligation getting pregnant when she/partner used perfect withdrawal and Plan B in 24hr?

Very little chance: Tubal ligation by itself has a failure rate of 1in300 to 500. Ablation, while not a method of birth control destroys the lining where the pregnancy would implant. Unless your ablation/tubal ligation was done less than 6 weeks ago i would guess the chance is more like 1in500 or less. I tell my patients no unprotected sex until 6 weeks out from tubal ligation. ...Read more
