Ocu-vite is a combination similar to what was used in this study. I recommend eye vitamins for those wish to lower their risk of ARMD, the most common cause of blindness in the elderly. ...Read more
Ocuvite Antioxidants: Ocuvite was formulated in the early 80's for eye doctors to recommend to our patients but us M.D.'s were unable or unwilling to tell our patients about the benefits of antioxidants in decreasing eye problems like macular degeneration. Taste loss: This is a rare, but reported, side effect of ocuvite. I have not personally encounted it in patients, but ironically, zinc (present in ocuvite) has been used to increase the sense of taste. You could discuss this with your treating eye doctor, and consider discontinuing the supplement to see if the taste recovers, as there may be other causes of taste loss as well. ...Read more

Time, not vitamin: If you had an eye infection and the eyelids were swollen, it can take time for the swelling to resolve. In some people the swelling is there for a long time, and gravity can make the fluid settle in pockets beneath the eyes. Cool compresses and keeping the head elevated some while sleeping can speed recovery. If the infection is not fully treated, chronic inflammation can make the swelling go on. ...Read more
