Use artificial tears: Reddening and irritation are often related to drying of the eyes. Prolonged computer work can also cause it as the blink rate goes down. Take a break every hour or two. Use artificial tears 3-4 times a day. Stay away from Visine or other decongestant drops. They can make the problem worse. ...Read more

Can you use Lubricant eye drop like Visine tears, dry eye relief as long as you want? or they are same as decongestant drops? does lubricant eye drops help clearing allergens?
Artificial tear yes: You can use artificial tear without an active medication for as long and as frequent as you want if it contains no preservative (single-use). Dry eyes. Can't take decongestant or antihistamine for sinus infection. Will Sinoclear serve the purpose of unclogging sinus n post nasal drip?
My nose is very stuffy, and my eyes are watering. Decongestants make my heart beat fast so what else can I do to get rid of this?
Need Rx: Your symptoms are consistent with allergic rhinitis. Unfortunately most OTC decongestants will give you some of the side effects you describe. If this does not help you should discuss with your physician the possibility of allergy testing with possible initiation of prescription medication ( sprays/eye drops) ...Read more

Depends: If you have an impaired immune system or anatomical obstruction at the sinus openings, antibiotic would not work too well. I've had headache with sinus pressure for a week(no congestion). Sometimes the entire head/neck aches. Decongestants/ZyrtecD don't help. Any advice?
See an ENT: An Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor might be able to help you. You may not feel congested, but one or more of your sinuses maybe filled with fluid. The therapy may involve one or more nasal sprays and maybe an antibiotic. I have self treated for sinus problems before, unsuccessfully. Trust me. See a professional. They are also known as otolaryngologists. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My friend has a head cold and chest congestion. He has g6pd. What OTC decongestants are safe for him to take?
OTC medications are: Heavily marketed to the public, but data suggests they do little if anything to alter the course of illnesses they are marketed toward. Some symptomatic relief may be achieved, but is generally short-lived. A more effective approach, with no risk to a g6pd patient, are the old standbys, rest, hydration, humidified air and time. This said, most otc meds are low risk. See g6pd.Org for specifics. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
