Ans: The lymph nodes can become inflamed for many reSons. You may have had an infection and thus the lymph nodes become reactive. They do eventually resolve takes a while. Irritants/ bites : Solo enlarged nodes are usually reflective of a local process. Irritation of the scalp, a local bug bite, etc.Nodes usually run a 3-4 week cycle of enlrging when stimulated, processing their irritant and returning to resting size. If continuing to enlarge, painful or persisting in an enlarged size after 3-4 wks, i would have it looked at. ...Read more

Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes enlarge in response to some inflammatory process that they are trying to contain. In the occipital area it may be an inflamed hair root, middle ear infection with involvement of the mastoid sinuses, and so on. Not related to thyro: Thi is not related to the Hashimotos. There can be a variety of reasons for this lymph node swelling. It could be a local infection or other reasons. You need to discuss this with your physician. ...Read more

sinus thrombosis: I am not sure exactly what you are meaning, but i think you might be referring to sinus thrombosis. This involves clot formation in the major draining veins of the brain, sometimes seen after trauma, dehydration, infection, or with hypercoagulable states.
