Obgym Have Twind
I have been bleeding mestrually for 2 months. I have an appointment with my OBGYN in a few weeks, but do you think I should find something sooner?
DUB NEEDS EVAL: DUB (Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding) is relatively common but needs an eval. Blood work including thyroid and hormonal studies. Also an abdominal and pelvic ultrasound to evaluate for fibroids and adenomyosis. You also need to be screened for anemia and may benefit from iron supplements. ...Read more
My estrogen was low on the reference range but still within the margins, can I still consider it an issue even though my obgyn doesn't think so?
Difficult: Hormone levels are very hard to interpret, as they are are quite variable throughout the day and from patient to patient. The interpretation is quite dependent on your clinical situation. If you are not getting a good explanation, a reproductive endocrinologist could give you a more expert opinion than a generalist ob/gyn. ...Read more

Plan for delivery: I would ask your obgyn how the babies are growing. Are they about the same size, or is one a lot bigger than the other? I would also ask about delivery. Are you having a c/section or vaginal delivery. Are you getting your tubes tied? What to do if you go into labor or your water bag breaks? Have you had your flu vaccine and whooping cough vaccine? GBS culture? Congratulations! ...Read more

I once pregnant but unfortunately it was miscarriage. ..Since 2004 after the miscarriage I am no longer pregnant, I tried to see obgyne but useless?
Would it be possible for me to get pregnant again? 5 years ago I was fixed but the ogy just cut me 1cm and tied it to the utherus, she said it will grow so I may be get pregnant again in some years, I think she also burn the ends.
I'm about to have my first obgyn appt on sept 13 but I think im about to start my period. What should I do?
Call the office.: Depends on the purpose of the visit. If it is for a pap and annual, may be best to reschedule if you are on your cycle. The front office of your doctors get this question all the time. ...Read more
Hi I'm 22 and I have tried to conceive by taking Clomid (clomiphene) 50mg I ordered online. Should I see a obgyn?
Yes,: Clomid is for promoting ovulation, not establishing menstrual cycles. Being 22, you have time. If you are menstruating regularly, you have 20% chance to become pregnant per menstrual cycle without any intervention. Try midcycle sexual intercourse for a year before taking Clomid. If you are not menstruating regularly, you may need to take Provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce periods to time Clomid for proper usage ...Read more
Back in May I had my first miscarriage and d&c - now obgyn found a cyst on ovary. Do u think I should start trying? Or wait until cyst is gone?
Will cyst be removed: Are you planning to have the cyst surgically removed or waiting to self-dissolve? It will likely be benign, but can make conception harder - also it can increase risks of another miscarriage (not cause, but still...) So, consider treatment 1st - discuss best timing plan w/ your OBGYN to optimize what might be a hi-risk pregnancy. Take it slowly and safely for the best chances of success. Good luck ...Read more
Can mild tricuspid insufficiency cause air hunger & SOB, especially when tired? My doc doesn't think so, my aunt (OBGYN) does. Unsure what to do?
Pulmonary: Mild TR should not cause those severe symptoms. Need a pulmonary evaluation including pulmonary function testing. Would also look into whether abnormal heart rhythms may be making the TR episodically worse, which might then cause those symptoms. Also need to rule out anemia or some other oxygen carrying capacity problem. ...Read more
Scared for my first obgyn appt tomorrow (prenatal appt). I've never been to an obgyn before. Worried I have STD and don't want them to think im gross?

Go for it: Smoking is terrible, dangerous and stinks in many ways. You have briefly endangered your health with 3 years of smoking but each year you have stopped gets you closer to the normal pattern. The bad effects are long term, so you will notice little except better breath, easier breathing, limited coughing and less ability to get sick. But you will have done a great thing by quitting. ...Read more
I haven't seen my obgyn and they have me in their systems schedule for a pregnancy screening why do you think that is?

My friend has her period twice a mo w pain, 6 mo since her natural birth. Why could this be? Dangerous? 23 yrs, please help, what can her OBGYN do
See ob/gyn: There are many hormonal changes with a pregnancy and it often takes a while for periods to regulate. She needs to see her ob/gyn and tell them what is going on. They will do an exam to make sure everything looks okay. They may suggest that she go on birth control pills for a few months to get her periods regulated again. ...Read more
Do u think it would be inbrassing for me to ask my obgyn to give me a full STD check up since I found out my husband been cheating on while im pg?

May...: In some places it is a routine to test for the basic STD's again in the third trimester but in general the CDC recommends to repeat testing at that time if there are risk factors that can point to possible active infection. Usually if the pt is younger than 25 y/o, has been recently exposed to STD's, was treated for an STD, or is a high risk for exposure (ex. Multiple partners, infected partner, etc) ...Read more
Can abnormal pap make my gyno think I have an std when I don't? OBGYN said that could be causing them to see things that aren't really there?
Miscarried twin at 7 weeks and still bleeding a month in a half later. Obgyn said everything has passed so why am I still spotting this black blood?
But you are still: Pregnant right?? It is not uncommon to miscarry one twin. The cervix is probably slightly open and can leak old blood from the miscarriage. That is why it is so dark. It is not the baby but old blood from the lining trickling out. You are not at any risk nor is baby from this ...Read more
I don't know when I'm ovulating because I don't have my period and I think I may be pregnant so when should I take a test or should I go to the obgyn?
It's ok to test: You don't say why you think you're pregnant, but it's not likely that you are. However - a test or exam would not hurt. The most common reason for amenorrhea is NOT ovulating. But I suppose it might be from another cause for you. While at an OBGYN, ask for as much info as you can on your condition and possible treatment. Best! ...Read more
Is it an emergency at this point to go to the obgyn? About four years ago I found out I had a HPV and I believe I went through with all my gardisil treatments but im not sure now that I look back the thing is im doing an internship in alabama and have no
HPV& cervical cancer:
A woman with hpv should have a pap smear at least every year. In the last 4 years, you should have had pap smears with results communicated to you.
It is prudent to go ahead and get routine pap smears to test for the presence of hpv or abnormal cells. You can typically make an appointment with a 'family planning' agency, where prices are lower and at times free. ...Read more

Is it bad that 50 mg of tramadol doesn't help my severe pelvic pain from PID? Should I go back to my obgyn monday? Taking doxicylcine twice daily.
After I had my son my obgyn said my uterus flipped nd tht it was slim to get prego again then I researched nd it said the opposite. What do you think?
? uterine inversion: I can't be exactly sure what your doctor may have meant by saying a "flipped" uterus. The most serious meaning would be an inverted uterus when the uterus turns inside out...the top of the uterus comes through the cervix or even completely outside the vagina: 1/3000 births. Once successfully repositioned and after recovery, my understanding is future pregnancy is possible with careful delivery. ...Read more
Sex uncomfortable, slight odor, pelvic cramps. I have a IUD I've been to my obgyn she says everything is fine even tried to douche what else can I do?
Consider 2nd opinion: Though I don't usually like to recommend going over your primary doctor- in this case if you've presented this same information to your OB/GYN and the best they can offer is to tell you everything is fine when you are uncomfortable and no workup has been done...well, I would say you're within bounds to get a 2nd opinion on the situation. A HealthTap consult may be an option as well. ...Read more
Is PID and chlamydia the same thing? Clinical doctor said yes but i'd rather an advice from a obgyn.
Not quite: Sorry not obgyn, but easy q to answer, chlamidya can cause pid, but it is not the only cause. Pid can be caused by different bacteria, some of which do cause an std's and some of which do not, it can happen during and from pelvic surgeries, abortions, miscarriages, in rare cases pid can be caused by normal but overgrown vaginal flora. And as a urgent care doc I treat a lot of pid's. ...Read more
Hello, my question is I'm having pelvic pain along with a yeast infection. I've tried otc, and calling my obgyn. No call back, what do you suggest.
If someone had an abortion at 6 weeks pregnant, would her OBGYN be able to tell or would he think she had a miscarriage? My friend is afraid to tell.
Ob/Gyn would not: If your friend had an abortion without complications, then her ob/gyn would not be able to tell just by examining her. However, if she is afraid to tell her ob/gyn, then she should find a new one. Patients should feel comfortable discussing all of there health history / issues / concerns with their clinicians without fear of embarrassment or humiliation. 1/3 of women have an abortion by age 45 ...Read more
