Very different: Both types of diabetes are characterized by high blood glucose levels. Type i diabetes is caused by a failure of the islet cells in the pancreas to produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is required to get glucose into the cells. In type ii diabetes, the pancreas produces Insulin but the cells don't use the Insulin in a normal fashion. This is sometimes called Insulin resistance. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hydrops fetalis, : Excessive fluid build-up in 2 or more body parts in a fetus, can be pretty severe, as you describe. Non-immune hydrops can be from heart or lung problems, severe anemia (alpha-thalassemia or infections), genetic syndromes or problems in fetal development. I'd seek evaluations of both kids by a geneticist to look for a cause ; by your state's early intervention program to assess their development. ...Read more

If your blood sugars generally run low, you might need to consume some additional calories before running. Meaning, life expectancy at this point may vary wildly for many reasons. It would be more useful to just optimize treatment in a multidisciplinary fashion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pat.With dm and ht present with ischemic cva(> 1/3 MCA distribution) ECG show af. When we start anticoagulant?
A few reasons: First there are two different drug induced parkinsons. Acutely (in which case just stop the drug), and chronically (tardive dyskinesia...TD). TD is generally in those with psychosis. Levodopa can make that worse. Bad. AND, Levodopa has been associated with more rapid progression in regular Parkinsons, so we dont like to use it in anyone if we can avoid it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
