Mirena (levonorgestrel) removed 6 days ago, TTC, ovulating starting day IUD removed. Spotted yesterday, mild cramping. Preg or mirena (levonorgestrel) removal side-effect?
Is it: implantation bleeding or mirena (levonorgestrel) removal side effect? It is probably due to hormonal fluctuations after removal of the mirena (levonorgestrel). It is also possible that this is a implantation bleeding although it is rare and the landing of the fertilized ovum to the inner uterine wall is atraumatic. Take a pregnancy test if your period is delayed. ...Read more
Sore breasts, mild cramping, nausea. Stringy white/clear discharge. On birth control. Period ended late June. Ovulation? Oncoming period? Pregnant?
One way to find out: If you're concerned you could be pregnant, the one way to find out is with a pregnancy test. If you have regularly taken your birth control pills, this is very unlikely, but still possible, especially if you missed any doses. If you symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, follow up with your PCP or OB/GYN. ...Read more

On mirena (levonorgestrel) for 8 months still having cramps w light irregular periods & period migraines is this normal? Started mirena (levonorgestrel) for period control. Thank you
Probably: By 6 months, ~95% of Mirena (levonorgestrel) users have decrease in duration and/or amount of menstrual blood flow; many stop getting their period. However, some women have irregular periods with cramps like you. Menstrual migraines likely related to estrogen decline with period, not mirena (levonorgestrel). Try ibuprofen/naproxen with periods. Dr may try estrogen with periods. If sxs worsen, see your dr to make sure iud in place. ...Read more

Bleeding after sex: It's not normal to bleed after having sex even with the mirena (levonorgestrel). Bleeding after sex is usually from tissue tears, the penis bumping up against irritated gland on the cervix, or bumping the iud. It would be a good idea to be checked by a gynecologist to be sure the iud is still in good position and that you don't have a treatable cause of the "post-coital" bleeding. ...Read more

I just got off nuvaring this month, had a regular period and have had cramping now for the past two weeks. Is this normal.?
Likely : It is not uncommon for a woman to experience different symptoms after coming off of a hormonal contraceptive, like nuvaring. Your body is now adjusting to the fact that the hormones it was used to from the NuvaRing are no longer around. You may for the first few cycles post-nuvaring have: irregular bleeding/spotting; cramping; breast tenderness; bloating. Typically, these symptoms resolve. ...Read more

So I got off of the nuvaring two months ago. I had a period for 5 days and having brown blood for 7 day with cramps. What could that be?
Menses: So it sounds like you are resuming your regular period. unless next month you miss a period or are having heavy bleeding that causes clots or causes you to go through more than 1 pad per hour for 2 hours, I would not worry. if your not wanting to be pregnant, make sure that you have another form of birth control. ...Read more

Why haven't I gotten my period yet even though i've been cramping real bad and stopped nuvaring 18 days ago? Help!
Nuvaring: Unfortunately this is the way your body is reacting to the "withdraw" of the hormones that the NuvaRing were providing. Depending where you were in your cycle when you stopped the NuvaRing - this may be ovulatory pain or the cramping in anticipation of menses. Generally this "evens out" over the first 3 cycles after stopping hormonal contraceptives. ...Read more

I started the nuvaring 3 months ago and still haven't goten my period, but I cramp bad when I take it out. Something wrong?
Lots of options: Sounds like a nice problem to have reliable contraception and not have to deal with heavy periods. Check a pregnancy test to make sure. If you are using it correctly then the lack of bleeding is not a concern. Many people will use it continuously to avoid bleeding. Discuss this option with your doctor and the cramping problem may be solved too. ...Read more
