Depends on type : A low carb diet might have 5-10% of calories as carbs. I am not big of counting calories but the biggest problem I have with your question is not all carbs are created equal- mimimize sugars/starches/simple carbs but complex carbs in veggies, beans, nuts and low-glycemic fruits do not need to be avoided. Whole food vitamin : I like whole food vitamins that give you the equivalent of several servings of fruits and veggies. Good healthy foods should be presented with no ability to "place order" ( unless allergies ). Limit drinks as kids can fill up on milk and juice and not experience hunger.
