A good variety of foods is important to provide all of the necessary nutrients. Make sure there's a good balance between protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Too much simple sugar is not recommended. Fast food can be inexpensive but usually not the best most healthy food for athletes.

If you mean better brain development in a baby, you need plenty of DHA (an essential fatty acid that's a component of fish oil, along with EPA). It's also needed for healthy brain maintenance in adults. Your body can make DHA from flax and blue-green algae, but not very efficiently. Calamarine supplements (from tiny squid) are another option. EPA is important also, especially vs. inflammation.

The key to preventing gout if you already are having attacks is not a low purine diet but in taking medications such as allopurinol to keep your serum uric acid at a level of 6.0 mg/dl or less. If you have never had a gouty attack, meds are usually not needed.

Low iron can also cause brain related problems. Certain antioxidants, like the anthocyanins in blueberries can reduce brain inflammation. Get your nutrition from whole foods and never from pills if avoidable.
