About heat rashes...: Some people do get itching and rashes from doing sports and getting hot. If it is from histamine release, one can try taking Claritin (loratadine) or Zyrtec, 1/2 hour or more before sports. If it is from the mid-day heat, try sports at sunrise. If it is from blocked sweat glands, a sauna 3 times a week may help (keeping the sweat glands flowing may help prevent blockage). A dermatologist can help, too. ...Read more
Is there any proper treatment for viral encephalitis with polycythemia ? Pt is 17 years old and over 6 month in icu waiting for good treatment
Missing information: You get more from the site when you provide better background information. Just listing "Viral" doesn't give much to work with. If it has lasted 6 mo and the patient is in the ICU I suspect it is Herpes encephalitis that has not responded to treatment and the prognosis is poor. Once the infection has lasted that long the damage is often permanent. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hemopneumothorax: That is the diagnosis; usually results from penetrating or blunt trauma. Evacuating air & blood is priority after ABC stabilization. Pain control is an important nursing consideration. If a result of assault or intoxication, social service/psych involvement is helpful. ...Read more
Usually: In non-embolic stroke, not caused by heart valve or rhythm disturbance, Aspirin is adequate first-line treatment. Other antiplatelet drugs may be useful if a person is Aspirin intolerant such as plavix (clopidogrel). Note compination Aspirin & Plavix (clopidogrel) offers no advantage than either drug alone but increases side-effects. Combination of Aspirin & dipyridamol (aggrenox) however is better than either drug alone. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Suffered heat stroke from stimulants been overheating for the past two days, will i receive brain damage?
After clean MRI neurologist said I am having subangiograhic cerebral vasospasms.Hx of tia's. Can these increase risk for more tia's, treaments options?
TIAs: There is increased risk for stroke in patients who have had a tia. Given your history of atrial fib & diabetes, there may be consideration to adjust your level of anticoagulation or add an anti-platelet med. If you smoke you should stop immediately. Any sort of Cocaine use would also be a really bad idea! ...Read more

Primary percussionist coronary intervention is preferred re-perfusion method for STEMI if within 90min, but also preferred in pt w/ >3hrs from onset ?
Presume you mean: I presume you mean that interventionalist tries to achieve a door to balloon time of 90 minutes or less which is the benchmark for centers offering emergency Angioplasty for acute MI. This is the time from admission to the time the balloon is inflated in the cath lab. Angioplasty can be offered if the attack occured 3 hours or less. The shorter the interval the better the outcome ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
A/N/V/dizziness: If i understand question correctly, the nursing diagnosis should mainly address the actual signs and symptoms. So, severe dehydration should not be nursing diagnosis since technically you may call volume depletion by mistake a dehydration. But would be appropriate to say dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure as these are not disputable and not amenable to error. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Stroke team at hospital evaluated. All tests were negative. Classic stroke symptoms. Current neuro "fishing" with EMG for arm. My concern is brain da?
Unlikely damage: Hard to say what occurred based upon your description, but unlikely permanent brain issues if your studies were negative. Cannot advise re EMG, as do not have full details. One alternative thought might involve an atypical migraine event, and this could be explored. You seem unsure about your doctors, might a second opinion or a Concierge visit here help? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If elder is in hospital for broken hip and acting odd (and prior stroke), shouldnt they order tests for stroke?
Possibly: A hip fracture may be associated with pulmonary emboli which in rare instances can (through a patent foramen ovale) cause a stroke. More likely, confusion and behavior changes could occur because of medications (narcotics). Occasionally, a pulmonary emboli may cause confusion by decreasing oxygen availability. ...Read more
Consultant thai hospital says clopidogrel Aspirin Warafin are all indicted for 89yr Afib who had Mycardial Infarction after stroke and 50% risk True?
AFib + MI: The 50% number sounds high, but Coumadin would be for reducing stroke risk of atrial fibrillation, and the aspirin/Plavix are for stent placement after MI. So, triple therapy is likely indicated. This should be for the shortest period as possible then reduce to 2 agents, most commonly Plavix and Coumadin. Triple therapy of aspirin/plavix/Coumadin has a high bleeding risk, so avoid risky things. ...Read more
