What causes sensation of numbness/tingling cheeks, lips, often side of neck as if, but not, hyperventilating & always accompanied by slight air-hunger?
Nerve issue: If the tingling is within the distribution of a cutaneous nerve then it's possible that that nerve is being pinched somewhere. The tingling of hyperventilation is due to changes in calcium in your blood so if the symptom is similar to hyperventilation then calcium levels should be checked. Nothing else: At the least you're describing PARESTHESIAS of the lips but it certainly is a bit odd that it should be occurring just over the left 1/2 of your lips continuously. No facial droop on that side, drooling from the left corner of the mouth, difficulty closing the left eye? If yes, then, you may have a mild Bell's palsy. There is a sensory trigeminal neuropathy which could do this, but one might consider problems in jaw or mouth as a provocateur. Some intracranial situations should be excluded via MRI.
