Hi, I have a random, tingling, and numbness to my right index finger at random times of the day. I haven't hit my arm or jammed my finger or any sorts?
More information: Many possibilities, more information is needed. If one taps on your median nerve in the wrist does your finger tingle. If one puts pressure on the proper digital nerve in the palm or finger can you reproduce the symptoms. Vasomotor: Sounds more vascular than neurological. A primary medical doctor can order an ultrasound & vascular studies of your arm. Carpal tunnel would not present this way. Rare possibilities are burger's and reynauds, and you might see a rheumatologist to rule these out. What could cause numbness in left index finger tip on the inner side of that finger? No other symptoms woke up with it like that.
Pinched nerve: During sleep many times due to position if limbs, there could be extra pressure at nerves to cause a variety of symptoms including tingling and numbness. Make sure you sleep on a firm mattress with soft pillows and change positions frequently to avoid constant pressure. Nerve irritation: These symptom are simular to carpel tunnel but when they involve the index finer are more likely to be the radial or ulnar nerve and while you feel it in your finger the problem could actually be in your elbow. Numbness has developed in the tip of my left index finger and includes very slight numbness on the top of the finger near the largest knuckle, also.
