What nerve could be causing numbness in right hand ring finger on the little finger side from mid tip to first joint?

What nerve could be causing numbness in right hand ring finger on the little finger side from mid tip to first joint?

Possible : It is possibly your ulnar nerve. This can get compressed at the elbow so if you tend to lean on your elbow pay attention to not doing that for awhlie and see if it helps. If you sleep with your elbow bent it can also cause this sensation in the am. And if you ride a bike or otherwise put pressure on your hands that can pinch the nerve in your hand. ...Read more

On my right hand my little finger and ring finger are numb and tingle a lots what could this be should I be alarmed?

Nerve compression: Sounds like your ulnar nerve may be compressed at your wrist. This can be caused by certain repetitive movements like prolonged computer use, texting, video games and others. Try wrist splints at night, but if stays numb all the time and not better with use of the wrist splints, need to see an orthopedist, preferably one who works lots with hands and/or things like carpal tunnel problems. ...Read more

Cubital tunnel: Cubital tunnel syndrome. Impingement of the ulnar nerve at the elbow. Grip the steering wheel at 5 or 7 o'clock instead of 10 and 2 o'clock. ...Read more

My right little finger and half of my right ring finger are numb and weak after an elbow injury 2 days ago. How long will these symptoms last?

Depends: Depends on the injury. What you have is an irritated ulnar nerve. An injured nerve from an elbow dislocation may take longer to recover than an elbow that was hit with a tennis ball, so it depends on how it happens. If it was a minor injury then it may take a week or two....More serious injuries can take 6-8 weeks or longer. Get an evaluation if you have not noticed any improvement. ...Read more

Numbness on right hand just on mi pinky sometimes on ring finger what could this be?

Ulne nerve issue: Your symptoms are fairly consistent with ulnar nerve entrapment. It is usually caused by repeated pressure of elbow along the 'funny bone' area where the nerve travels along before it reaches the 4th and 5th fingers. Try wearing a elbow pad with a sleeve especially during sleep to see if it helps. If symptoms get worse, then consult your doctor for further evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

Numbness: Numbness of fingers can be due to pinching of nerves at the wrist such as seen in carpal tunnel syndrome. Since only the very tips of two fingers are involved, a localized neuropathy may be the cause. At this point your symptoms are minor, but if they worsen or start to involve other regions of the hand, consult a hand SURGEON or neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Ulnar neuropathy: Your symptoms sound suspicious for ulnar neuropathy...a pinched nerve, typically at the elbow. When you hit your funny bone, you're actually hitting this nerve. It's caused by leaning too much on the elbow or repetitive movement of the elbow. Don't lean on the edge of a table and don't sleep with your arms curled up tightly under your head. Only when severe, surgery may be needed to decompress. ...Read more

My left hand often cramps painfully for 20+ minutes and I cannot stretch it out. I also have numbness in pinkie and ring finger. What could this be?

Often no cause: Spontaneous painful muscle cramps often happen without any detectable cause. Electrolytes imbalance and low Calcium levels in blood are rather uncommon causes of painful cramps. Gentle stretching of the painful muscle along with gentle massage resolves it in few minutes. Some medicines are associated with muscle cramps (like Statins) but they do not cause muscle contraction . ...Read more

The tip of my little finger on my left hand feels numb. I thought it will go away but after 3 days still the numbness is there. What is the cause.

Several causes: The tip of the little finger miss incinerated by the lunar nerve. At the elbow the lunar nerve is relatively shallow and exposed to trauma of various kinds. People call this the crazy bone, but injury to the lunar nerve is what happens. Also the small digital artery that supplies it if damaged can cause numbness, but then often the finger tip is blue, white. If it persists over a week see your doc. ...Read more
