Numbness In Left Arm While Sleeping
I woke up found numbness in left arm and hands my hand is shivering when I move it it incr. The numbness please help what is it did I sleep on it 4 long?
It should return: Often when sleeping or keeping a limb in a certain position for a prolonged period of time either circulation is reduced or nerve compression occurs and this will cause of loss of function. Most of the time sensation and movement return within 1-3 minutes once the person awakens or moves the limb. Sometimes it takes longer. You should see a neurologist if no improvement for much longer.
I always sleep on my right side, and my left arm goes numb. It swells and is very painful even after the numbness fades. What is wrong?
W/out exam...: Cannot directly say. ANd, obviously a circulatory issue would cause swelling and inadequate circulation makes the nerves feel sick resulting in pins/needles/numbness/pain often with some changes in color Thoracic outlet, subclavian steal something in the circulation in the armpit (prev. Trauma/surgery or congenital malformation) could all do this.See 1 more doctor answer
My left arm began "going to sleep" during my sleep about a year ago. This now is severe numbness waking me from a sound sleep 5 times a night. Why?
It likley has: Something to do with awkward positioning while you are asleep. If the hand is the worst wrist splints may help. If it is higher hard to "police" yourself, as you are asleep!
I am a healthy and fit 48 yof with arm numbness while I sleep. If I sleep on right side my left arm will go numb and visa versa. Should I worry?

I've had numbness in my left arm for a few weeks now and it's preventing me from having a good sleep. I've been recently diagnosed with no thyroid.?
Pinched nerve: Neck pain that runs down the arm with or without numbness and tingling sounds like a pinched nerve in the neck. This is usually caused by a protruding disc or bone spur touching one of your spinal nerves as it leaves your neck. This can often improve on it's own with rest and anti-inflammatories, but if your pain lasts greater than one week or gets worse see your physician.

Waking up with slight numbness in my left arm and hand during the middle of the night. Should I just go back to sleep or monitor it?
Did you fall asleep?: The symptoms you're describing sound like you may have fallen asleep on your arm This can cause temporary numbness and tingling. If these are ongoing symptoms you should be evaluated for more serious causes. However if you're young and healthy and the numbness goes away, most likely this is nothing to worry aboutSee 1 more doctor answer
Woke up in middle of night with numbness & tingling in left arm & panic attack. Haven't been able to sleep much (4 hrs). Also, have difficulty swallowing at night at times, gagging at times & feel disoriented.?
At your age severe anxiety with panic is likely rather than heart disease however make sure to have your blood pressure checked and do it at home with an automated monitor. Sometimes hormonal forms of hypertension can present this way and would need treatment.
The swallowing trouble is more in keeping with anxiety and you need treatment for that too.
Woke up w/ entire left arm stiff (couldn't move) &numbness. Lasted 5 min, fell back asleep. Recent pinched nerve in back on left side. Related?
Not if pinched nerve: It seems that you may have slept with neck in unusual position if symptoms only lasted 5 minutes. If symptoms come back or persist then imaging of neck will be needed.
I have numbness left arm/fingers leg, with pain in same leg where previously broken. Feels like left side is almost asleep...What should I do.?
Get a diagnosis: Left sided numbness could be as simple as referred numbness from myofascial pain (which is cause by muscle imbalances), or even carpal tunnel in the left wrist, but could also be as serious as nerve damage from your fracture, or even a stroke. I'd recommend seeing a physiatrist or neurologist to get a clear diagnosis. Then you can target an appropriate treatment.
What could cause a tingling sensation in my left arm, hot feeling in the palm, feeling pinky, next finger and thumb are asleep, facial numbness feeling?
Tingling sensation a: Depending on whether the symptoms are abrupt or chronic, the answers are different. It could be a cerebrovascular event such as a stroke, or a combination of problems, facial neuralgia with a cervical radiculopathy. It depends on your medical history. This may be emergent, and it should be worked up immediately by a neurologist.
My left arm has been numb for 6 days and I do not know why... I don't sleep on that arm, that is the only reason that I could think of.?
It could be: A pinched nerve in the neck or an impaired circulation to the left arm. See your doctor for an exam.
Hello dr. In my every sleep I get my left arm numb, cn't move it and I cn't sleep at my left side, y is it so please do tell me as itz incrsng daily..
Nerves: Could be carpal tunnel, the nerve gets pinched as if passes into your hand. Or could be cubital tunnel, the part of the ulnar nerve that passes through your elbow, most common for those that sleep with their elbows bent (e.g. Hands on the chest). These are very common reasons for your symptoms at night. You can get a carpal tunnel splint at your pharmacy. If bothersome, your doctor can help.See 1 more doctor answer

My left arm is feeling numb. Like pubs and needles. I'm guessing I fell asleep on it. But it won't go away. I'm worried, and can't sLeep : (Why?
Most likely: At your age, stroke is very unlikely, so falling asleep on it is very likely. Since nerves are kind of fussy, it can take a while for nerve symptoms to resolve. It may take hours to a day. If it doesn't improve, or you develop weakness, spreading numbness, or difficulty speaking, go to the ER. Hope this helps!
Woke up with my left arm completely numb, it's happened twice within the same day, I wasn't sleeping on it though. Is it safe to go back to sleep?
Neuropraxia arm: Numbness of an upper extremity during sleep is common. This event is usually from compression of the blood supply to the extremity. Allowing blood back into the arm by changing positions is the treatment. If the numbness continues after being awake for more than 10 minutes, it may be a more serious condition and would involve an examination by your doctor.
After sleeping heavily medicated, I have had a numb upper left arm for 1.5 days non-stop. I am a type 1 diabetic. Do I ned to see a doc or wait for it?
See a doctor.: Numbness for this long is not normal and needs further investigation. There are numerous possibilities for the numbness but best to get checked. How are your blood sugars running? Any weakness? Any pain in shoulder or neck? Any other carpal tunnel related signs? Any localized redness or swelling? Get checked out. Best of luck.See 2 more doctor answers
