Ulnar neuropathy: Your symptoms appear, at first glance, to be an ulnar neuropathy. I share your concerns, however, if you are having symptoms in the rest of the hand as well. If you are having weakness in the hand, forearm or arm I would be concerned about a brachial plexopathy (injury to the network of nerves in the shoulder). Neuropathy: This could be ulnar nerve compression causing numbness or pain in the ring finger and pinkie finger. See your doctor for an exam and assess for nerve compression at the elbow or armpit. Either : Either the ganglion is pressing against a nerve, or mom was right, and the immobilizer you wore was, indeed, too tight. Why suffer? Go see a hand surgeon. Ganglion cysts can be aspirated (drained) and sometimes, a little cortisone injected after the aspiration could prevent it from recurring (as they sometimes do). Numb finger: There are many many causes of a numbness, caused by a nerve being compromised....Pressure from habitually holding an object in one way, or on the nerve farther away, from cysts or spurs. Numbness: Numbness of fingers can be due to pinching of nerves at the wrist such as seen in carpal tunnel syndrome. Since only the very tips of two fingers are involved, a localized neuropathy may be the cause.
