Does having surgery on stomache cause foot numbness?

NO: No known relationship between stomach/abdominal surgery and foot numbness. Position of your body on an operating table for a prolonged period of tome can rarely bring out an underlining nerve impingement.

Is numbness in foot normal after DVT surgery?

Is numbness in foot normal after DVT surgery?

What kind?: We don't do too many DVT surgeries anymore--if what you had was a thrombolysis or a thrombectomy, occasionally patients do have some numbness, but it should resolve very quickly. Any persistent symptoms should be evaluated by your doctor.

I'm on non weight bearing post ankle surgery 2 weeks in is it ok to rest foot on floor or is that weight bearing?

Ok: Apparently you've had an ankle fusion surgery performed (by your history). Ok in general to rest foot on floor for short periods of time (better to rest w/ foot elevated). If you begin to walk get your crutches!

Why is it that some micro nerves have to be cut in foot and ankle surgery in order to get to the bones. N can such nerves be repaired or fixed?

Surgery is an injury: Whenever an incision is made, even small portals for arthroscopic surgery, there is injury caused by the surgeon. As far as nerves, we are very aware of the anatomical location of "important" nerves and rarely cause unintended injury. Very small nerves may be cut but these normally heal.

Had ankle surgery 3 weeks ago havin really bad swelling in ankle & foot & have had a low grade fever of 99.2-99.7 for a few days should I be worried?

Why RU waiting......: Let me put it this way. If I did surgery on you three weeks ago and you were having the symptoms stated, I would hope that you would call the office at once. These circumstances are part and parcel to the science of surgery and post operative care.

Is it true tat in foot&ankle surgery, in order fo get through to the bones, some micro small nerves have to be cut. N these nerves cannot be repaired?

Is it true tat in foot&ankle surgery, in order fo get through to the bones, some micro small nerves have to be cut. N these nerves cannot be repaired?

Usually no problem.: The short answer is yes. Though some small nerves will undoubtedly be traumatized, the injury is minimized by knowing where to make appropriate incisions, thus minimizing disruption of normal nerve physiology. In almost all cases, the nerves completely recover, without the need for repair of any type.

Is there foot and ankle surgery for fallen arches? I've had fallen arches my entire life. I enjoy hiking, but notice that my ankles really swell from the constant pounding even with good arch supports. Would foot and ankle surgery be a possible option to

Flat feet: If ankle braces and orthotics have not helped then I would recommend foot surgery. There is various types of foot surgery that can lift or reconstruct an arch. I would recommend talking with your foot and ankle specialist or a foot fellow orthopedist to discuss various surgeries that could benefit you.

Ankle surgery soon and I been having my foot fall asleep a couple times a day. I'm gettint the screws out and scar tissue scraped. This the cause?

It could be: Any time you have foreign material (screws) and scarring, there is risk of soft tissue irritation--nerves are very sensitive to this. Scarring and hardware can lead to nerve entrapment. Once the surgeon removes the screws and debrides the scar tissue, there is a good chance the numbness and pain will improve; however, sometimes nerves are damaged in surgery and you could always have numbness.

What can cause severe pain 1yr after total knee replacement surgery? My mother has numbness in foot and knee. Sometimes swelling. Thanks

Varies: There are multiple possibilities, but one general way to look at it is either there is something wrong with the knee replacement surgery outcome, or your mother has another condition causing pain in that area. The most common "other" cause is a condition calked spinal stenosis, which is essentially a pinched nerve in the back that can cause leg pain and numbness.

Is diabetic foot numbness reversible?

Is diabetic foot numbness reversible?

Numb Diabetic Feet: We have found in our podiatry clinic that there is a lot of variability in levels of severity of diabetic neuropathy and symptoms also vary but mostly early symptoms of numbness, stabbing, burning, tingling and electric shocks that are recurrent when resting seem to be correlating with fasting blood sugar levels. Symptoms are less when patients have good sugar control; you should strive for this.
