Median nerve: On the palm side of your hand, your median nerve provides sensation and some motor strength. This is the nerve that is pinched in carpal tunnel syndrome. If you are having problems with tingling and numbness, then you may want to be evaluated by your physician to confirm your diagnosis and obtain treatment. ...Read more
Carpal tunnel: You must have your hand folded down sometimes during sleep. If you hold that position for long enough, carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms can result. Wear a wrist brace specifically designed for carpal tunnel when you go to sleep. Be sure it has a firm support like plastic of metal to keep the wrist in good position. Don't get a completely soft wrist brace since that's not adequate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Nerve symptoms: Might be due to carpal tunnel, nerve pinching at elbow (cubital tunnel), but also neck and shoulder may have problems. Sort out and confirm with your doc, and perhaps get confirmatory testing. Occas, bilat symptoms due to some medicines, and rarely an issue with cardiac disease (but over left arm, not the right). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Be seen: The most likely cause is a cervical Radiculopathy, which is basically a pinched nerve in the neck. But because of the association of cardiac disease and left shoulder and arm complaints, you would be well served to be seen. NCV/EMG : Usually an NCV/EMG is done. It is not a structural test like an MRI, but rather checks the nerves themselves. It can help distinguish between a problem coming from the spine, the arms themselves ( such as carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes), or more of a neurological condition such as in a neuropathy. ...Read more

Varies: There are a number of possibilities, I would not hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis. Numbness is a neurological symptom and a nerve conduction test can usually sort it out as well. The two most common causes are either a pinched nerve somewhere, with carpal tunnel syndrome being the most common that involves the thumb; or a neurological condition such as a neuropathy for example. ...Read more

Numbness/light pain in my left pinky and ring fingers, and side of hand. Maybe spreading elsewhere in hand. Fear of motor neuron disease.
Don't think so: Hi. What you're describing would be a sensory neuropathy, and given the distribution (ulnar nerve), I suspect it's a physical problem ,not metabolic. Motor neuron disease (aka ALS) only affects nerves to muscles, and leaves sensory nerves alone. I'm not a neurologist, but I feel safe in assuring you this is not motor neuron disease. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Best to see Doctor: If it's not your pillow(s) causing this, or arm positioning over your head, then call your doctor, and have him/her examine, and test you. They can easily do a mini-neuro check on you to measure strength, coordination, and balance of both arms. So don't delay. You will have better peace of mind knowing what can be done, after s/he advises you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Symptoms: rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, chest soreness, occasion white vision, numbness in pinky/ring fingers on right hand, orange urine.
Carpal tunnel : The most common cause of numbness in the middle finger of the hand is compression of the median nerve at the wrist. The middle finger is followed by the index finger, thumb and half of the ring finger. If you also have blanching of the finger along with numbness you may have raynaud's syndrome, a vascular constriction brought on by cold. Wrist position can affect the numbness. ...Read more

Many things: The problem could or be anywhere from the spinal cord, to a nerve root to the brachial plexus to a peripheral nerve. A brain problem is less likely since you do not mention a problem with your face. A neurologist can help determine what the problem might be. The cause of this type of symptom is usually not serious, fortunately. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Numb fingers: This can happen with a pinched nerve in the wrist. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a pinched nerve and the fingers affected are the middle fingers. Ulnar nerve compression will affect 4th and 5th fingers. Radial nerve compression will affect thumb. What other symptoms do you have? Otherwise, think of C-spine compression or axilla compression ...Read more
Ulne nerve issue: Your symptoms are fairly consistent with ulnar nerve entrapment. It is usually caused by repeated pressure of elbow along the 'funny bone' area where the nerve travels along before it reaches the 4th and 5th fingers. Try wearing a elbow pad with a sleeve especially during sleep to see if it helps. If symptoms get worse, then consult your doctor for further evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

I have numbness in my two middle fingers when i sleep mainly my right hand what can i do to fix this?
Hi I have been feeling numbness in both the little and third finger of my right hand for the past 18 hours..Any idea why?
Ulnar compression: You may have injured the ulnar nerve (the "funny bone" nerve). It can be from trauma, infection, or just sleeping on it wrong. Most common of late: keyboard use with improper position--note how the edge of the table would press on the forearms. Change position, see your doc if it continues. ...Read more

I don't know what you want? I have pain, numbness, tingling in my right hand - mostly in middle finger, ring finger, and pinky.
Ulnar neuropathy: Your symptoms sound suspicious for ulnar neuropathy...a pinched nerve, typically at the elbow. When you hit your funny bone, you're actually hitting this nerve. It's caused by leaning too much on the elbow or repetitive movement of the elbow. Don't lean on the edge of a table and don't sleep with your arms curled up tightly under your head. Only when severe, surgery may be needed to decompress. ...Read more
