If you have uncontrolled diabetes, then that would be one possible cause. The treatment would be aggresive blood sugar control and use of medications in the class of neurontin (gabapentin). Possibly CTS: With your typing history, it is certainly possible for you to have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This can give you sensory changes in the thumb, index, middle fingers. Need more info: From the symptoms you describe it sounds line what may be what is commonly called a "pinched nerve" with a radiculopathy (inflammation of a nerve root).
