Neuropathy: Nerve damage (neuropathy) is a common diagnosis for such complaints, though there are other potential diagnoses that can cause this. A nerve conduction and EMG test can be useful to prove neuropathy. Neuropathy has many potential causes, but diabetes, thyroid issues, some toxins (alcohol, chemo meds), vitamin deficiencies, and some infections (eg hiv, hansen's disease) are coin causes.See 2 more doctor answers
Had eviked potentials done for numbness and tingling rt foot an. Result. 2.5to 3 is that abnorm. Al?
See below: Guess I am confused, as to why you would have your symptoms tested by evoked potential study which is basically worthless if you have a peripheral nerve problem. (although may help diagnose a spinal cord problem). The more appropriate test could be an EMG nerve conduction study. I think you need to sit down with your doctor and ask some direct questions. Sorry, but that's my thinking, so far.
