Paresthesia: I assume that you had a lower wisdom tooth removed and that the doctor who removed your tooth gave you an injection of a local anesthetic to numb the tooth. That injection also numbs the tongue on the same side. If the doctor accidentally hit the nerve during the injection, or traumatized the nerve during tooth removal, the tongue may remain numb for a while. Dog bite: Lidocaine typically wears off within a couple hours deent. The depending on a lot of factors.(+- epinephrine) etc. And sometimes docs will use bupivicaine or ropivicaine which has a longer duration. Still, 7 hours is a bit long for any agent. ImPossible to: Predict. Typically none but then again depends on the procedure. Dentistry today is relatively painless. You should be fine.
