Yes possibly cause: A partially numb tongue could create or add to a lisping issue. What is causing the numbness issue? A trauma possibly removal of impacted wisdom teeth or tongue piercing could damage the nerve that innervates your tongue. Time is critical here the older the trauma the poorer the chances of healing. How Long ago was it?: It is not uncommon to give local injections in oral surgeries or give topical local to make the intubation less uncomfortable. The local from that could last a while.
