I have a bright red spot on my lower leg I noticed two days ago and I'm getting a numb feeling in the back of my knee?

I'm not sure we can: put these two things together. The red spot is MOST likely a skin condition: eczema, psoriasis, etc. but another cause is allergies, perhaps to a bug bite. Have you been in a tick area? I suppose you must consider Lyme Disease, though this is much less common than many people think. I think the spot and numbness can both be watched; if the spots enlarge/spread or numbness persists, see your Doctor ...Read more

I woke up at night with my left leg feeling swollen and numb. It was gone next morning. There is a sore spot behind and below my left knee.

Leg swelling: If true swelling of the leg occurs and there is discomfort or tenderness behind the knee or in the calf, phlebitis is a concern and a leg ultrasound is recommended. A Baker's cyst is another possibility. In any event I feel that you should be examined by a physician and he/she will order any appropriate tests. ...Read more

Is parasethetica meralgia treatable? Have a numb spot just above my rt knee on rt side. About 3x2

Is parasethetica meralgia treatable? Have a numb spot just above my rt knee on rt side. About 3x2

Not sure about this: Meralgia paresthetica is by definition painful. That's what "-algia" means. The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve can be injured by trauma or it can be compressed in the groin by obesity. You can treat the pain, if any, like other neuralgias. If the nerve is compressed by a chronic condition like obesity, only "treatment" is to take the weight off the nerve by taking the weight off. :-). ...Read more

Bruising, muscle numbness and pain in my knee? The bruise is round with a spot in the center that's not bruised. I didn't hit it on anything.

Bruising: Bruising without injury should prompt a doctor visit. Sometimes, we sustain injury without a clear memory of the trauma, but unexplained bruising should be evaluated with examination and appropriate tests. ...Read more

Had mri of brain came back abnormal, dr said I have sodium spot on brain. but did not go in to it any further. could this cause numbness in left leg?

Had mri of brain came back abnormal, dr said I have sodium spot on brain. but did not go in to it any further. could this cause numbness in left leg?

White matter diseas?: I'm not sure what a "sodium spot" is, but if you've ever had trouble with your electrolytes before (hyponatremia), then it could be sign of central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) - perhaps a limited type. CPM can cause paralysis & numbness. Usually it's more dramatic. If the MRI report suggests "white matter disease", it can be from a stroke & cause numbness. W/o seeing report & MRI pics, hard to know ...Read more

There is a numb spot on my right thigh for years and that entire leg has a tendency of falling asleep ("pins and needles"). Is this a pinched nerve?

There is a numb spot on my right thigh for years and that entire leg has a tendency of falling asleep ("pins and needles"). Is this a pinched nerve?

Meralgia: parasthetica. Pinching of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve may be an issue here. Avoid wearing tight clothing and see if it will help. Check this link.

Numb left leg with pain in colon numb spots on left leg with sharp pains running through colon

Unfortunately : Unfortunately the description of your symptoms does not allow me to provide a very educated suggestion as to the cause of your problems. In particular, the causes for abdominal pain can be quite diverse, ranging from an "internal organ" problem, such as gallbladder, intestine, pancreas, urological, to musculoskeletal, such as a hernia, to neurological, such as a pinched nerve or neuralgia due to infection. The latter, neuralgia, can cause pain or numbness (not usually both at the same time) and is usually from shingles. The distribution of pain or numbness due to neuralgia or pinched nerves goes along specific patterns and are not spotty in distribution.

In order to provide a more logical path to working out the cause of your pain and numbness, one would want to know about the nature of your pain (characterize it, sharp, dull, constant, cramping, associated with eating, change with movement, referred pain), and associated symptoms, such as the presence or absence of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, distention, weight loss, other medical history.

It is unclear why you think the colon is involved - usually when this happens there is associated change in bowel habits, usually with diarrhea, increased frequency and sometimes with blood streaks in the stool. ...Read more

For two days I've had two numb spots in my right leg, I'm not sure what's wrong, I was drinking a large amount of alcoholic beverages, could that be w?

For two days I've had two numb spots in my right leg, I'm not sure what's wrong, I was drinking a large amount of alcoholic beverages, could that be w?

Numbness: If the numbness persists, you should see a doctor. Not sure if it's related to heavy alcohol consumption. What sometimes can happen is that if you "pass out" and lie on one part of your body for extended periods without moving, that can cause a form of trauma to the nerve which could be causing the numbness. If you drink like that frequently, check your B12 level. Low B12 can cause nerve problems. ...Read more

Numbness in left hand, bottom part of arm, bottom part of leg and left side of face.Mri showed white spots on brain, LP was negative for ms.

MS or not MS?: Iit is hard to find the cause of a symptom of tingling. The changes on your MRI could be related to your symptoms. When the LP is negative, it does not mean you do not have MS, but one must consider other causes, such as a virus of some kind, or other medical illnesses. It may help you to have some symptomatic treatment of your symptoms, maybe a nerve conduction study and a follow up mri. ...Read more
