Who knows.: CAlibrate your own scale. Use a 10# bag of sugar or flour. See how close your scale is. It may be correct or not. If it is correct, make sure you are getting weighed int the same manner as at your doctor and at the same time of day. If you ate prior eat now and try to have the same fluid balance as before. Insulin #: Test strips container shows--1 unit if 187-253, if using KwikPen Humalog (insulin lispro) U-100. But, my Dr. says 2 units if 200-250. Please, what do I do?

Like buying a car.: Some dme suppliers are very aggressive with their marketing, selling and billing. Talk with the provider who wrote the script ( to make sure you got what was intended and that charges seem reasonable in their estimation). Different timing: R is usually given about 1/2 hr prior to a meal. No longer the short acting Insulin of choice because others more effective having shorter 1/2 lives. Nph may be combined with short acting Insulin or given alone to provide later coverage. Starts to peak in ~ 4 hrs, though effect will last for several. It peaks which predisposes people to low sugars. Newer insulins replace nph for better control. ...Read more

Most don't: Have a choice because of their contracts with insurance companies. The ic's insist that you charge the same inflated charge to the patients that we bill to the ic's, despite the ic's consistently paying around 60% of what was billed. Refrigerator/Room tp: Unopened vials /pens can be stored in refrigerator till expiration date on the product. Once removed from the refrigerator, opened/unopened vials can be stored at room temp or refrigerator and discard after 28 days, opened pens/cartridges should be stored at room temp discard in 14 days regardless. Many offices offer care credit which allows someone to pay for their dental care over a period of time with no interest. Also dental schools and some clinics offer a sliding scale.
