Slow marketing: I believe the reason has been somewhat slow marketing and releasing it before proving that it also has effectiveness in anxiety as well. Some of the initial side effects needs to be overcome by taking the initial starter packet and using two of them instead of one so that the upward taper occurs less aggressively. The harder it is to get patient and physician compliance, the harder it is to sell. ...Read more

I bought generic clonazopam from india call oail 2mg. Manufactured by terrace, marketed by cyril. Are these real?

Hard to tell: It is hard to tell whether a medicine is a real brand name medicine, an equivalent generic, a counterfeit of brand name medicine, a generic that doesn't have the exact same medicine as the original, a counterfeit of a generic, etc..., when it is coming from a developing country. Such medicines, we hope, are closely inspected for authenticity if they are sold in american pharmacies. ...Read more

Can my 2 1/2 year old use miralax (polyethylene glycol) longterm? We believe constipation stems from daily diphenhydramine

Yes: Since it is basically a wetting agent and not a true laxative, its actions are benign. I have used it in a monitored setting for a year with no problems, though most will respond to a good bowel rehab program in 6 months or less. ...Read more

Is name brand Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR better than the generic brands? I'm reading horror stories online about the generic brands.

Is name brand Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR better than the generic brands? I'm reading horror stories online about the generic brands.

Generic vs. brand: While generics are claimed to be the exact equivalent as brand name medications, individuals may respond better to trade name medications. However most patients tolerate the generics without problem. Since the generics are less expensive and usually have a lower co-pay, i would try it once. If it does not work as well as the brand, it will not take long to make that determination. ...Read more

I am on atorvastatin 10 mg; orlistat 120mg; silymarin 70 mg; neurovitamins; all once daily?

Not all once daily: Atorvastatin should be taken once daily. Orlistat 120 mg is usually dosed three times a day with each main meal containing fat. I'm taking verapamil and am constipated. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) & costco optifiber (wheat dextrin) don't seem to work. What fiber supplement would you recommend?

I'm taking verapamil and am constipated. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) & costco optifiber (wheat dextrin) don't seem to work. What fiber supplement would you recommend?

Change meds: I believe that constipation is a common side effect of medications. When simple methods to manage these complications fail, altermative treatments should be sought. I would not recommend stronger laxatives as they may alter your colonic function, unless, of course, you have no alternative. ...Read more

1/2 soma, melatonin, mobic (meloxicam) & Mucinex taken at bedtime. Have sleep apnea controlled w/ cpap, fibro. Having dreams so vivid I confuse them w/ reality!?

Alcohol?: What you are describing happens when you wake up from rem sleep. Melatonin has nothing to do with it, it is not an fda approved medication, and I am not sure why you are taking it. None of the medications you listed is expected to cause vivid dreams. Alcohol, and certain sleeping pills could do that. Recovering from sleep deprivation (long work nights) can precipitate it. ...Read more

My pharmacy tells me 150 mg. Elavil (amitriptyline) (name brand) is not manufactured in the usa, is this true? Generic never worked as well.

Amitriptylene: Brand name Elavil (amitriptyline) was discontinued in the usa around 2003, and the remaining supplies sold until exhausted. Multiple companies, however, make generic amitriptylene -- including in 150mg dose. Your concerns about brand name vs generic are not uncommon, though. Sorry. Hopefully you and your doctor can find a regimen that helps you. Be well, . ...Read more

Does klonopin (clonazepam) (or any benzo) ever really expire, i.E. Lose potency over time? In other words is it just as effective 20 years past expiration date?

20 years?: 20 years is way too long to rely on the potency of the listed dose on the bottle. Some medicines can still be active a year after their expiration date, but i wouldn't trust if after that. Lots happens with heat. Light, moisture, etc. For a more detailed answer, please ask your pharmacist. ...Read more
