Not Bathing Cause Butt Rash
Long term rash on lower buttocks and upper legs (sitting area) not itchy, small red bumps, no creams seem to cure.
Butt itches bad. Could be dry skin. On which parts of the butt area is hydrocortisone not recommended?
Hard to say: The most delicate skin on the buttocks would be the area around the anus. Hydrocortisone would need to be used carefully there. However, some causes of itching in that area would not respond to hydrocortisone. Pin worms for one, yeast or fungal infection for another, and a bacterial infection also wouldn't do well with hydrocortisone. ...Read more

Any other exposures?: If your rash is truely localized you want to consider things you got into. Detergents, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, etc. Any body wash you limited to those areas or lotions, etc. If the skin of your neck/face has any rash at all, not necessarily identical to other sites, an ingested product-food/additive/meds could all be an issue. Can not bathing(maintaining proper hygiene)&infrequent diaper changes, such as"because the diaper box says 12 protection",lead to a d.rash to a y.inf?
Yes. : Leaving wet diapers on too long can comtribute to a fungal diaper rash. If this develops then change the diaper as often as possible and let the child run around without a diaper during the day as much as possible - even 10 minutes helps. Good ointments to apply are clotrimazole, desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) and hydrocortisone. Use water instead of wipes and avoid baths for a few days. It will take a few days. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Whenever I give my baby oranges he gets a butt rash. could it be an allergy or just a coincidence?
Maybe, maybe not...: The rash could be a sign of allergy, but a confined rash to just the diaper area is actually very unusual for an allergy. Much more likely it is a local skin sensitivity to change in stool contents/consistency/pH when child eats oranges, and then this change in his poop irritates his butt. Try protective diaper ointment with zinc oxide next time you are going to eat oranges and see if it helps. ...Read more
My daughter breaks out in a rash after taking a bath. Is it possible to be allergic to water? We have tried diff soaps and it doesn't help.
My 4 month old started cereal friday night. Tonight when giving her a bath i noticed a rash. Iam not sure if its the lotion or cereal. ?
Either or: Smell the baby's lotion. Does it have any color? Does it smell like anything? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then it is probably the lotion. If the baby's on rice cereal it is less likely to cause an allergy than the lotion. Unscented products with no color are best for baby! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
