I have a very terrible cold, stopped up nose sore throat headaches is there anything I can be prescribed ?
Symptoms only: There is no cure for common cold yet and Rx are targeted on symptoms. For headaches, Tylenol (acetaminophen) , sore throat-lozenges with honey, anesthetic, or even zinc, nasal congestion-OTC nasal spray (not to be used for more than 5 days). Upper respiratory: This sounds a bit like a nasty upper respiratory infection (a cold, if you will). Drink plenty of fluids. Hot tea with honey and lemon is good. Try decongestants or antihistamines for the runny and/or stuffy nose, tylenol (acetaminophen) for the fever, chloroseptic for the throat. If you have a significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Saltwater gargles are helpful. Virus: Likely another upper respiratory virus. Treat the symptoms, lots of fluids and rest. If it lasts more than 5-6 days or you have fevers greater than 102 get evaluated. Not unusual to get multiple viruses in the winter. Wash your hands after contact with others or use hand sanitizer. More likely when you work in an office or with the public. ...Read more

Cold medications: The symptoms you report could be a viral upper respiratory infection. Acetaminophen or ibuprofen can help with headache and sore throat, as well as any fever. Mucinex-D can help with the nasal congestion and thin mucus to help clear it out. you have a cold: The zinc in coldeze may shorten the duration of a cold by a day or so. Symptomatic treatment will make you feel better. Throat lozenges for sore throat, pseudephedrine for nasal congestion, Robitussin-DM for cough and tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain and discomfort when needed are what i recommend.
