Will my nose look different after having deviated septum surgery?

Will my nose look different after having deviated septum surgery?

Usually not.: Unless you specifically request (and pay for) cosmetic changes to your nose, deviated septum surgery corrects the internal deformity of your septum. Severe septal injury can also involve externally-visible nasal deformity, and proper repair may involve more than septoplasty alone--this would be called septo-rhinoplasty, and is often considered reconstructive and not cosmetic in nature. ...Read more

Ent please should I get my deviated stepum fix? Nasal polyps surgery twice. Allgeries moderate.

The : The main reason one has a septoplasty is to improve the airflow in the nose. It may also be necessary to allow better access for sinus/polyp surgery. Whether surgery is worth it depends on how deviated your septum is and how much your symptoms are from this rather than your allergies. Another thing to consider is whether you may also be helped by having a turbinate reduction. ...Read more

Unfortunately, yes: Adenoids can grow back, your son most probably has seasonal allergies, started again in fall with weather changes and back-to-school season, affecting his upper and lower airways, and possibly airway hyper-responsiveness causing respiratory difficulties, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, wish you both wellness ...Read more

If the bleeding is only from one nostril always and you cannot see the source of bleeding consider ENT appt to make sure there is no abnormality. What's the average nose protruding length? When should someone get plastic surgery for a big nose?

What's the average nose protruding length? When should someone get plastic surgery for a big nose?

Not meaningful: Sorry but, if I knew the average nose length, it would not be helpful. Much more important is the overall harmony of a patient's facial features. A larger chin, for example, makes a larger nose seem more in proportion. A small chin/jaw could make even an average nose look big. You should consider a rhinoplasty if you feel strongly that your nose is way out of proportion. Get two skilled opinions! ...Read more

Septoplasty, turbinate reduction, adenoid removal 3wk ago. Bumped yesterday, slight bleed & now nose is congested. Surgeon away. Could I have damage?

Bumped Nose: Probably no harm. Usually good idea to take an antihistamine tablet. Be sure to see doctor immediately on his return to rule out hematoma of septum. If your surgeon is away two weeks than should see an ENT doctor within 5 days to rule out possible hematoma of septum, as this must be drained. Do not see emergency room as they are not familiar with septal hematoma. Again, this is rare but important ...Read more
