Nose bleed in middle of night?

Nose bleed in middle of night?

Check your BP: If the nose bleed is always from the same nostril it could be due to a superficial vessel, or dryness in the nose. Apply saline nasal spray to keep the nostrils moist, check the blood pressure to make sure it is not elevated as this is a common cause of increased frequency of nose bleeds in adults, eliminate over the counter medications that predispose to bleeding like anti-inflamatories, aspirin. ...Read more

What is wrong if you get a nose bleed in middle of the night?

Common: Epistaxis is common in everyone. 80% of people experience this in their lives. A common cause is dry, hot air like inside the home causing nasal dryness and crusting. The nasal tissue cracks and bleeds easily. Treatment includes humidification of the air, and nasal moisturizing with a variety of otc nasal saline gels or mist spray. It's not a major health hazard, but should see an ENT. ...Read more

Probably dry air: More than likely, your nosebleeds are not serious, but rather due to dryness in the plane cabin. If you do not have other associated bleeding tendencies, such as bleeding gums while brushing your teeth, easy bruisability, then i would suggest you take a q-tip with vaseline and apply in your nostrils before flight. If this is persistent, you may need to see an ENT to have the vessel cauterized. ...Read more

Had nose bleeds since using e cigarettes (vaper) stopped using last night had nose bleed lightly today nothing bad will this stop? No longer using vap

Epistaxis: Great decision to stop using e-cig. You're doing yourself a great favor. As for your nose bleeds (epistaxis), as long as they stop, you're most likely fine. But it's still a good idea for your Family Doc or even ENT to take a peek up there to make sure nothing else is going on. In meantime, use spare non-vaping time to eat right, exercise regularly & get enough sleep. Wrap it up each & every time. ...Read more

Why does my nose bleed after a night of drinking alcohol?

Why does my nose bleed after a night of drinking alcohol?

Nosebleed: One possibility is that during the alcohol binge you got into a fight, and someone punched you in the nose. Alcohol can also act like a blood thinner, causing your platelets to be less "sticky" and not clot well. This is apparently more common in male drinkers than women. If you drink often, you may even have less platelets, period. http://pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publications/arh21-1/42.pdf. ...Read more
