I had a CBC done and the result says normochromic normocytic anemeia is present. What does that mean?
Anemia: Normochromic means that your red cells are normally colored (not too pale or too dark). Normocytic means that your red cells are normally sized (not too small or too large). Hematologists categorize anemias in this way so they can generate a list of causes responsible for a given anemia. ...Read more
I had a cbc test couple of weeks ago and it was R.B.c mild normochromic normocytic anaemia and p.c.v (H.c.T) 35.00?
Mild decrease in RBC: You have anemia which is under production or over destruction of red blood cells. Normocytic means that there in the normal range for size that's good. Microcytic often means iron deficiency. Macrocytic could mean problems with vitamin deficiency or with nuclear maturation arrest from toxins. The hematocrit is 35 which is in keeping with mild anemia. You may have had some blood loss. You may have hThe hematocrit is 35 which is in keeping with mild anemia. ...Read more
You are mixed up: Normocytic normochromic are terms sued to describe normal red cells. That has no real connection with Lymph node enlargment unless you have Anemia which can certainly be associated with certain diseases of Lymph nodes, like Lymphoma. If your nodes are getting progressively larger, then your doctor needs to find the cause....this may require a biopsy of the lymph node as well as of the bone marrow. ...Read more
What to do if I'm 22 year male. my blood test result shows : rbc- predominantly normocytic normochromic!!?
Blood Smear (Erythrocyte) shows normocytic normochromic. Although it does not have the word Aneamia, is it same with normocytic normochromic Aneamia?
I feel pain in right side of stomach, sometimes on front and sometimes on back side. Reports show neutophila / normocytic normochromic, u/s is normal.
Gallbladder: Pain in the right upper abdomen and which radiates to the back suggests gallbladder dysfunction. In such cases an ultrasound might be negative. Often the next study to be ordered is an hidda scan, which is a nuclear medicine scan that, unlike the ultrasound which shows architecture of the gallbladder, shows function of this organ. ...Read more
See below: Any type of anemia can have various complications if left untreated but it depends heavily on the type of anemia and its cause. Normocytic normochromic anemia is frequently associated with an underlying chronic disease and it is very important to diagnose this disease in order to know what the complications may be and how to treat them. ...Read more
Hb 10.3, platelets 105000, normoblasts=03/100wbcs. Rbcs morphology is normochromic. Normocytic majority of lymphocytes are atypical. Mononeuclear smal?
We can't answer: Especially with the abnormal morphology of the lymphocytes, you need to speak either with the treating physician -- primary care or consulting hematologist -- or with a physician you trust. No one here can tell you what this means though it is of course very concerning. ...Read more
Need more info: A mild normochromic, normocytic anemia will be diagnosed on the machine-generated counts with confirmation from the smear. It means you need a workup to find the cause, and that while things aren't severe yet in the blood, at your age it may well be the wakeup call for a treatable cancer. ...Read more

I got my CBC report - it shows RBC NORMOCYTIC NORMOCHROMIC blood picture . What is this, is it normal or some dangerous thing?
This just tells you that the shape of a red blood cell is normal and so is the concentration of hemoglobin in the cell. The lab test in this regard will be normal if the red blood cell count and percentage by volume is also normal, informing you that you Do Not have a normocytic, normochromic anemia.
Best wishes ...Read more

My haemoglobin is 10.8 and wbc is 13.6×10^9/L and esr is 40 mm/hr and Rbc morphology is normocytic and normochromic..what does it means
And my age is 20 yrs?
Anemia: You appear to have an anemia(mild) which is probably from iron deficiency for a woman of your age. The elevated WBC is suggestive of a current infection. The ESR increase may be related to the infection, the anemia, and/or something else. It is best that you consult our doctor about your condition. ...Read more
Anemia: Anemia refers to your hemoglobin and hematocrit (packed cell volume) levels. Essentially these tell you whether or not you have enough red blood cells. Your red cells are normal in size (normocytic) and have a normal amount of hemoglobin (normochromic). Causes include aplastic, posthemorrhagic, and hemolytic anemias and anemia of chronic disease. Lymphopenia = decreased lymphocytes. ...Read more

What can cause normocytic normochromic anemia in a 2-year-old female with a history of poor growth for the past ~6 months and autism?
What does normocytic, normochromic anemia (hgb 11.5) w/increased rdw, retic and hgb F 7.1 mean in a 5 year old? I'm very concerned. Dr said not urgent
Not urgent means...: The doctor is saying, "Don't worry, it's not dangerous. I'll tell you if and when it's time to worry." Listen to the doctor (unless there is a valid reason not to listen to the doctor). Hgb is hemoglobin, and there are several types. If a child is growing and behaving fine, and already 5 years old, he likely has nothing urgent because he has lived happily with his hemoglobin type for 5 years. ...Read more
Great question, there's a deeper answer, but generally leukemias usually affect the white blood cell line, rather than the red blood cell lineage. What you're probably referring to is called "anemia of chronic disease". Elevated inflammatory mediators, like IL-6, impair both production and ability to incorporate iron into heme, which causes normocytosis and normochromia. Hope this helps ...Read more
My Eosinophils and absolute count is high and also normocytic normochromic on CBC. WBC / RBC / Platelet is normal though. Does it alarm for Leukaemia?
See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, there is no cause for alarm. It would have helped to have the actual numbers. Eosinophil count may be high due to allergy, skin rash, and parasites. ...Read more

Stop worrying: This is a normal blood count, though I'd have told you the actual absolute counts. If something's causing your symptoms, it's not showing up in your blood -- and many serious illnesses give you a normal blood count in any case. Best wishes. ...Read more
