Occupational therapy: It seems that you are already seeing a neurologist and they have ruled out common neurological causes of wrist and hand pain. See an occupational therapist who may be able to help. Diagnosing such conditions can be challenging and sometimes take several months and repeated follow up. In the meanwhile pain management is recommended and various classes of different analgesics may have to be tried.

Orthopedic I have a friend who broke her wrist her doctor wants her to get a X-ray every week is that normal?

Orthopedic I have a friend who broke her wrist her doctor wants her to get a X-ray every week is that normal?

No: Some fractures particularly to the sacaphoid may not be evident on initial films, and repeat x-rays are performed 2 weeks later to rule out this type of fracture. Weekly x rays are excessive unless the reduction is unstable and they are assessing the need for open reduction with internal fixation.

Swelling over ulna in my wrist, my X-ray http://cutt. Us/6xqz3 and my left hand http://cutt. Us/rowx sometimes little pain if lifting heavy? Thinks

Xray is unreadable: Ask for a two view wrist and ap views with ulnar and radial deviation to assess carpal bones and intercarpal intervals looking for instability. If normal consider MRI or (if someone is good at it and most radiologists aren't) wrist ultrasound.

Got X-ray on my painful left wrist and it showed calcifications of the soft tissue. Doc ordered MRI. What could they be caused from and how to fix it?

Many causes.: Too many to discuss here. Best to have it evaluated by your Dr. Treatment will be based on the etiology determined from any tests.

Random mild chest pains all over chest. Wrist pain. Went to er. Ekg and X-ray showed normal. Chest pains still happening. What's wrong?

Random mild chest pains all over chest. Wrist pain. Went to er. Ekg and X-ray showed normal. Chest pains still happening. What's wrong?

Anxiety: Please don't go back to the er. Your heart is fine. But your chest, where you hold your stress, is exhausted. You need to find a way to manage your day to day stress in much healthier ways.

Severe pain and swelling in left wrist, X-ray reveals no fracture, so what else may be the causes?

Many causes: Could be an infection, inflammatory problem, arthritis, or a torn cartilage. With severe pain, see a specialist.

Am a professional pianist. Fell on my hands&knees 11wks1/2ago. Hurt my wrists esp. Left wrist. X-ray of left wrist shows a suspicion of fracture but pain has improved. Can I play piano again now? Shld I wear a hand brace when play? Do I need an orthopedist?

Seek further care: Hand and wrist fractures can be tricky to diagnose and treatment can vary quite a bit, depending on which bone is fractured. Suspicion of a fracture in the hand requires more investigation, including a possible CT or MRI (depending on the suspected injury) and care from a hand surgeon.

With wrist ext, there is radial pain from just below base to two in below my wrist. Diagnosis was intersection syndrome. X-rays were normal. Correct?

Not clear question: I think you asking about carpal tunnel syndrome. Cts is a median entrapment neuropathy that causes paresthesia, pain, numbness, and other symptoms in the distribution of the median nerve due to its compression at the wrist in the carpal tunnel.

Which one the following x rays can tell us if all of the growth plates in human body are fused?? LEFT WRIST OR LEFT KNEE.

Which one the following x rays can tell us if all of the growth plates in human body are fused?? LEFT WRIST OR LEFT KNEE.

I think not.: Neither. Wrist and knee are general anatomical descriptive terms, not specific, such as radius, femur or tibia. The bones in the sacrum are the last ones to fuse, and it occurs after the growth plates in the bones of the wrist and knee which fuse at approximately the same time.

Pain and sensitivity in the radial side of the wrist and base of thumb. Also pain in snuffbox and fingers. X-rays and MRI are normal. Why pain?

Pain and sensitivity in the radial side of the wrist and base of thumb. Also pain in snuffbox and fingers. X-rays and MRI are normal. Why pain?

Tenosynovitis: DeQuervain's tenosynovitis can cause pain at the anatomical snuffbox, due to repetitive stress and movements causing inflammation or tenosynovitis of the sheath or tunnel that surrounds two tendons that control movement of the thumb.

I had ulna osteotomy surgery 9 weeks ago. At 5 weeks x-rays showed a fracture. It is painful over my wrist, could it still be broke? Is this normal?

I had ulna osteotomy surgery 9 weeks ago. At 5 weeks x-rays showed a fracture. It is painful over my wrist, could it still be broke? Is this normal?

Let me explain: The area of the osteotomy should be healed by know, some times will face delayed healing or no healing at the osteotomy site check with doctor and more x-ray could be taken to see. Good luck.

Radius fracture: Even nondisplaced radius fractures are getting better we can benefit from splinting and restricting activities and in time knowing what to expect is a good thing there are also some fractures that may feel better but actually have articular involvement that need to be addressed even though it feels better than it did so Xray

My 12yo son ran full speed into a wall during basketball stopping himself with his left hand/arm. Considerable pain in his forearm. X-ray was negati?

My 12yo son ran full speed into a wall during basketball stopping himself with his left hand/arm. Considerable pain in his forearm. X-ray was negati?

Rest and recheck: At 12 years old, your son still has growth plates. They can break without being noticeable on X-ray. If that is the case, the break is not out of place, so treatment would be just to protect it. But pulled muscles and ligaments also hurt. Wrap his arm with an ace bandage. Let him use it lightly and give him tylenol for the pain. Then give it a week. If it's still sore then, repeat the X-ray

Fell on elbow, diagnosis w bursitus after x-ray. No swelling improvement after 3 days w ice/motrin. Some hand numbness and limited fx. Normal?

Fell on elbow, diagnosis w bursitus after x-ray. No swelling improvement after 3 days w ice/motrin. Some hand numbness and limited fx. Normal?

Elbow bursitis: After trauma may take some time to resolve. In the absence of infection, patience is needed. A gentle compressive sleeve or elvow pad may help comress the tissues and avoid repeat trauma but just as long as the skin does not irritated and the elbow does not get stiff. Ice and nsaids work well. For chronic issues an injection with cortisine or for very refractory cases a sclerosing agent may help.

I fell on elbow and was diagnosed with bursitis after an x-ray. There is no swelling and there is improvement after 3 days with motrin/ice. I also have hand numbness and limited functionality. Is it normal?

Could be: A trauma bad enough to cause bursal swelling could also be putting some pressure on the ulnar nerve on the inside of the elbow. This could cause some numbness in the ring and small finger of the hand. Keep up with the Motrin and ice. If numbness does not go away in a few weeks, get it checked out.
