Depends on how taken: A normal temperature for an 8 year old is the same as an adult: 98.6 degrees, fahrenheit if taken orally. An axillary temperature (under the arm) tends to be 0.5 degrees lower, while a rectal temperature is 0.5 degrees higher and a tympanic (ear) temperature can be 0.5-1 degree higher. I find that tympanic thermometers are not as accurate, especially if the ear drum is hot from an ear infection. ...Read more

We all have these emotions because we are human. But have it worked out ahead of time when they are feeling that way, what are appropriate ways to deal with those feelings. Some kids draw, punch a punching bag, tear up old newspapers or rags, etc. ...Read more

People who are myopic are aided by their natural near focus point and are less symptomatic as they pass 40. It also depends on how myopic you are. Eg., if you are -1, you will be able to focus comfortably at 1 m but more accommodative effort closer. But a -3 will be very comfortable at 30 cm. ...Read more

Varies with conditin: The liver can show an injury pattern specific to its cause that may not produce jaundice in its early or moderate stages. If a 7 alomst 8 year old boy touches a 4 almost 5 year old boys penis is it sexual abuse or normal kid stuff? Is the 7 old enough to know better?
I call abusive: Such interaction between age equivalent kids is "exploration" & I can accept as much as 2 years age difference into that idea. Beyond that and specifically for the 7-8 yo who is old enough to know right from wrong on these issues it is abuse & often reveals a past abuse of the older kid. Size & intimidation is also an issue when the 60 lb 7-8 yo is doing this with a 40+lb 4-5 yo. ...Read more

Peds neck pain: Persistent pain in kids is not very common. Especially if persisting for a year or more. Normal x-rays don't really rule much in or out, since developmentally the peds spine is filled with growing bone and cartilage.
