Can skinny people feel almost all their normal lymph nodes in neck groin and armpits? What size is considered unenlarged?

Can skinny people feel almost all their normal lymph nodes in neck groin and armpits? What size is considered unenlarged?

size differs: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more

Nodes: Nodes normally are about that size or slightly larger. If you shave your pubic area that can lead to enlargement. I would be concerned if the nodes were rock hard or getting bigger. If you're still concerned, go see a gyn for a thorough pelvic examination that includes palpating the nodes and a pap smear. ...Read more

Need an exam: Lymph node enlargement(lymphadenopathy) is often due to a recent infection and sometimes underlying malignancy, or other disorders. If the lymph nodes have been present for a long time without enlarging in size there is less chance of malignancy. It would be best to have your physician examen you. He or she may decide to watch the nodes for a while or possibly order a lymph node biopsy. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my little boy (3) has had a swollen lymph nodes in groin and neck for months but bloods all normal?

What do you suggest if my little boy (3) has had a swollen lymph nodes in groin and neck for months but bloods all normal?

2 options: If he is seemingly healthy, active, appetite good and no other symptoms, I would recommend watchful waiting. What do you suggest if my son (3) has swollen lymph nodes in neck and groin but bloods all normal should I still be worried?

Depends on situation: Lymph glands generally swell after stimulation and can do so after a general illness, vaccinations, or if limited to one area, some local factors. If they enlarge and gradually shrink back to resting size within 3-4 weeks, they are behaving normally. You have done the initial baseline workup, so I would give it time and recheck if it persists too long. ...Read more
