I'm pregnant was wondering what blood glucose levels should be for fasting and 2 hrs after eating for normal pregnancy?

I'm pregnant was wondering what blood glucose levels should be for fasting and 2 hrs after eating for normal pregnancy?

Targets vary: Gestational diabetes patients are often instructed to check their finger stick blood glucose 4 times a day (fasting and after meals). Fasting in the am, most doctors I know try to have their patients between 70-90/95. One hour after eating, some doctors will try to keep you below 140, others strive for under 130. If you check 2 hours after eating the value should be under 120. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

What's cause my blood pressure to be a little high on the bottom number, could it be a possible sign of preganacy? Never had this problem before.

What's cause my blood pressure to be a little high on the bottom number, could it be a possible sign of preganacy? Never had this problem before.

No: It's not an early sign of pregnancy. Be sure you're measuring it at complete rest for 10 minutes, use a validated, properly sized arm cuff, measure at the level of your heart, take measurements on multiple days and average them. If it averages >90, consider salt intake, weight, and be checked for kidney function with urinalysis and blood sample. Avoid licorice, XS alcohol, recreational drugs. ...Read more

Early pregnancy and blood pressures really low. Is there anything I can do to higher it up or take anything for the dizziness or shakiness?

Low BP: There is nothing you should or could or should take to raise your BP.
You need to increase your fluid intake & perhaps increase your salt intake a little bit. That will make thirsty & you woild want to drink.
Avoid Soda drinks, they will actually dehydrate you.
If having problems with Nausea, talk to our doctors about it.
Salted Saltine crackers will help the nausea & give you some salt. ...Read more

I have always had very low blood pressure. The last month it has been normal to slightly elevated am I suddenly getting high bp and what could cause?

Unlikely: blood pressure is very dynamic and changes second to second depending on activity and a host of other factors. Unlikely you are suddenly developing high blood pressure. If you are concerned, you can see your doctor for evaluation. They may ask you to do Home blood pressure monitoring which can provide helpful information. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Is having a consistently lower than normal diastolic blood pressure a good or bad thing (i.e between 40-50 mmhg) if the systolic pressure is the normal range (i.e in the 90s mmhg)?

Is having a consistently lower than normal diastolic blood pressure a good or bad thing (i.e between 40-50 mmhg) if the systolic pressure is the normal range (i.e in the 90s mmhg)?

Prob normal for you: There are some red flags associated with a low diastolic blood pressure in older people (may mean arteries are stiffer, or taking too much of an anti--hypertensive drug (s), but in a young male such as yourself, it is likely normal. Especially since your systolic blood pressure, while normal, is on the low side, too. Unless you have symptoms such as dizziness/light-headedness, I would not worry:) ...Read more

Is there anyway to lower your blood pressure if you have dsystolic dsyfunction also I have normal stystolic pressure?

Is there anyway to lower your blood pressure if you have dsystolic dsyfunction also I have normal stystolic pressure?

Important to lower: Diastolic dysfunction refers to a stiff ventricle and impaired relaxation of the heart. It is often marked by thickened heart muscle and implies that the heart has seen intermittent high blood pressure. If you have diastolic dysfunction documented on echo, it is important to assess your 24 hr blood pressure with an ambulatory blood pressure monitor to determine if medication is indicated. ...Read more
