Is an oxygen level of 86 considered normal or not?

Not normal.: Some persons with COPD can tolerate a low o2 level (usually in the high 80s or low 90s) but below 88 it's usually getting problematic even for the worst COPD patients. ...Read more

What is normal levels of oxygen in the blood? What is considered low and what is considered dangerous? Is levels in the 80s ok?

What is normal levels of oxygen in the blood? What is considered low and what is considered dangerous? Is levels in the 80s ok?

It is low: If you are asking about oxygen saturation the level should be above 90%. Normally it it is 97 - 99%. If the levels are in the low 80s - the person should be on oxygen. The oxygen saturation is obtained via external device placed on the finger or earlobe. If you obtain arterial blood and measure oxygen level - po2 the level in 80 is ok. ...Read more

My normal oxygen level us 96-98 on a pulse ox, I traveled to new Mexico and it was 91-95 and I didn't feel well? Why the drop in oxygen?

Interesting: I wonder if this has something to do with atmospheric change, but would have to know where you originate from. I'm also curious as to why you measure your oxygen level regularly. Is there a health product for this? The lower O2 level could be a cause of not feeling well or an effect of something else that made you not feel well (eg pneumonia). Recommend virtual c/s for more informed response. ...Read more

What are normal oxygen level readings for newborn?

What are normal oxygen level readings for newborn?

Depends: Prior to their first breath, the level reflects the placentas efficiency, with levels around 50%, increasing to 60% by a minute of age, 75% or so by 2 min and above 85% by three. By the time they are 5-10 min old they should stay above 94%. ...Read more

What oxygen level is required for normal breathing in a child?

What oxygen level is required for normal breathing in a child?

Depends on age...: Pulse oximetry is a standard mechanism to determine fairly accurately (most of the time) the oxygen saturation of the blood. The desirable saturation level varies based on infant/child age and multiple other considerations such as chronic lung disease, heart defects, body temperature, etc. However, for most children most of the time, we prefer seeing the level in the mid to upper 90's. ...Read more

I was just diagnosed w/sleep apnea & was told my oxygen dropped to 68. I know normal levels are in the 90s. What is the effect of levels in the 60s?

Sleep apnea: This is a serious condition. Low levels mean that your system esp. Your brain is suffering from periodic deprivation of normal oxidation of the blood, which is dangerous, you should be under care for the apnea, which often is applying pressured air via a face mask to keep oxygen levels normal. ...Read more

For blood oxygen saturation level - what is the fatal and normal range?

Oxygen sat curve: If you look at the p50 or oxygen saturation curve, anything above 90% is ok for the hemoglobin to unload as it gets into the tissues and supply them. As the curve goes down to 75% about pao2 of 45, this nears the saturation in the veins where unloading of oxygen to the tissues including heart muscles becomes difficult and there will be eventual death as it gets lower than that. ...Read more

Maybe sat meter not work prop when walking. Way to test: check UR pulse manually w wrist & watch w UR meter. If unsure a Cardiologist/Pulmon can place U on Treadmill & obtain O2 sat. Will panic normally cause sudden drop in oxygen saturation levels? With sudden pulse of 144, oximeter went from 95% to 83%. Is that a normal reaction?

Not normal!: I don't know of "normal" reactions to panic. But something was not right to have those vital sign extremes. See a doctor to for an exam and report those stats. A feeling of panic can be a symptom itself, especially if there was no environmental or pre-cursor emotional horror to cause it. If your cardio system is ok, get a referral to a psychotherapist w/ excellent anxiety-panic tx skills. Best wis. ...Read more
