No: At your age, kidney function is usually starting to drop of. And/or you may simply be physically fit and decently muscled. When I was lifting weights daily, I ran 1.7-1.8. I see you have hepatitis C and cirrhosis. See if you can get into one of these new studies with the meds that usually cure it. Best wishes. ...Read more

Ua (Definition)

A ua is a urinalysis, or chemical and microscopic analysis of the urine. The standard urinalysis is performed with a dipstick test for ph, blood, protein, sugar, and ketones. In addition, a urinalysis usually includes a microscope examination to identify if the urine contains cells, "casts" (structures that indicate a problem originating in the kidney) or crystals (such as ...Read more

Had blood and urinalysis 7/15. Blood work was all normal but urine showed creatinine level of 409, trace protein, trace leukocyte esterase, WBC, hyali?

Stop worrying: I understand you have fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries and hope this can be addressed. The urine creatinine, trace protein and hyaline casts are non-issues, the trace of leukocyte esterase and white cells (unless very numerous or you have symptoms of infection) are likely contamination, and if your physician is not concerned, I would not be either. Best wishes. ...Read more

Doctor can help: A primary care doctor can evaluate to see what might be the concerns. Having hand pain when doing some sort of acupressure doesn't mean anything in modern medicine... So it doesn't mean one has heart disease, kidney disease, lung disease, or any internal organ disease. However, if parts of the hand or fingers hurt when pressed (not pressing too hard), one's doctor can check for hand inflammation. ...Read more

Is urine specific gravity of 1.002-1.006 too low or indicative of anything? Creatinine .7, BUN 10, urinalysis normal/negative.

No concern.: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your results are normal. Low specific gravity, just means that you drank a lot of water. ...Read more

Interstitial disease: Protein in the urine represents glomerular damage which is a specific type of damage. Sugar in the urine may be from high blood sugar or dysfunction of the tubules. Interstitial kidney disease can be a problem of the blood vessels or of the tissues besides the filtering part of the kidneys. Uric acid is said to play a role in kidney disease although the mechanism is not well defined. ...Read more

Urine protein: Are you diabetic or have history of kidney ds? Your doc may want to do 24-hour urine collection to determine total protein/24 hours as well as other tests of kidney function (creatinine clearance). Doc may advise no soda pop & examine your list of meds for possible causes. ...Read more
