Normal Left Atrial Size
A small left atrium normal in thickness on my echo with abnormal septal motion. Heart structure normal with EF 65%. Possible pulmonary hypertension?
ECG: Without seeing the ecg and only given what you wrote, it isn't possible to know whether the ecg is abnormal or not. An axis of 57 degrees is not a 'right axis', 157 degrees would be. Left atrial enlargement has definite ecg parameters but doesn't always mean significant abnormality is present. If it were possible to see the ecg more comment would be possible. ...Read more
Mildly enlarged left atrium with atrial fibrillation.Should I be worried about the enlarged left atrium? Thank You.
Atrial enlargement &: slowed atrial conduction are classic precursors & setup for atrial fibrillation. AFib is rare without these. Less commonly discussed are atherosclerosis, plaque ruptures & compromises of circulation to atrial muscle, a setup for ?ed atrial function just as it is for ventricular muscle. Thus optimize NMR lipoproteins, HbA1c & Systolic BP, the 3 biggest drivers of atherosclerosis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My echo showed i have a small left atrium and ventricle ( ESV 1.1cm) (not hypoplastic left heart) is this normal?
What does a moderately dilated left ventricle signify?normal systolic function,EF 55-60%,wall thickness normal.mitral/tricuspid regurgitation present.
Stress Echo-What does decreased left ventricular volume and hyperdynamic left ventricular systolic function mean?
ECHO: Normal Left ventricular size + wall thickness and wall motion, Normal biventricular systolic function, Mild MVP w/ trace regurgitation, EF 67%, RV systolic pressure 16mmHg, mild heart murmur. No symptoms. Help! Is this normal?
MVP: Your echocardiogram is not perfectly normal as it shows mild mitral valve prolapse. All other parameters are normal. MVP is very common and very often causes no problems. Nevertheless I recommend periodic follow-up by a cardiologist as the mvp can worsen, cause atrial arrhythmias and atypical chest discomfort. Very often a click can be heard on stethoscope examination of the heart. ...Read more
Uterus size 7.9cmx3.4cm mid line echo thick=7mm and rt,overy=4.4cmx2.3cm left overy 4cmx1.7cm is this normal?
Yes: Ideally the measurements should be taken in 3 planes so volumes can be calculated, but this sounds normal. ...Read more
Normal sinus rhythm. Possible lt atrial enlargement. Cannot rule out Ant infarct , age undetermined. Abnormal ECG. Had pain in left chest and arm.
Need work up: You have to see your doctor for further evaluation. Echocardiogram and stress test are most likely indicated to rule out coronary heart disease. You are young, there fore it is not very likely unless you smoke, have family history of coronary heart disease at relatively young age, have high cholesterol. Check with your doctor whether your Levothyroxine dose is not high for you. ...Read more
More info needed: That depends on many additional pieces of information, such as your body size, clinical history, other structural circumstances of the heart, past medical history, function of the heart. If you are aware that you lv cavity size is mildly enlarged, you have had cardiac imaging; i recommend discussing this with your cardiologist for an accurate answer. ...Read more

My echo shows a posterior wall and septal thickness of 1.3 cm each. It indicates mild concentric LVH with normal systolic function. Should I worry?
Some concern: Concentric hypertrophy of the left ventricle can be due to elevated blood pressure or valvular heart problems although your echocardiogram apparently doesn't demonstrate any valvular abnormality. Your findings are only mildly abnormal and a cardiologist would be best qualified to evaluate and advise you in order to prevent future cardiac problems. ...Read more
