Normal or Healthy?: In us, typical total chol. Prior to first obvious heart attack: 170 mg/dl. However, cholesterol is made by every animal (including human) cell, part of cell membranes ; not correct issue; promoted as a ways to guess at LDL particle numbers yet poor correlation, esp. On individual basis. Nmr lipoprotein assay is highly accurate; lipid assays not. Trigs a bit high ; promoted by carb/sugar foods. ...Read more

what cause for high triglyceride level?
HDL normal, triglycerid normal, HDL normal, non-HDL normal but why Total cholesterol is low 3.61 mol/l ? What are risks for health ?
None: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your total cholesterol is okay. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Crp and cholesterol related?
Cholesterol is a fat: which allows animal cell membranes to be flexible & humans to move; has little to do with arterial disease though promoted by NIH.gov for 4 decades for less $. Typical total cholesterol before people 1st obvious heart attack 170 mg/dL. LDL-C is not measured from your blood, only estimated: LDL-C = TC - HDL-C - 1/5th triglycerides. Get NMR lipoprotein test, get LDL particles <400 to max 700 nmol/L ...Read more
Yes and No: Vldl (very low density cholesterol) is made in the liver, and contains both triglycerides (tg's) and cholesterol ( more tg's than cholesterol). Ldl is made in the blood stream from vldl, and contains more cholesterol, less tg's . Both have a protein called apob on the surface, but because LDL lasts longer , there is more LDL available. Both can cause plaque in arteries if levels are too high. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm 27 but my lipid profile is total cholesterol 199.0 mg/dl , LDL cholesterol 146.3 mg/dl , HDL cholesterol 33 mg/dl. Is this profile normal?
Dyslipidemia: Your total and LDL are at higher limits and as u grow older they will get worse in addition u have a condition of lower HDL which incresed your risk of cardiovascular disease the present medicines available fail to change this risk though can change lipid levels you also have a high chance of becoming a diabetic all is not lost good lifestyle like a mediterranean diet and exercise will help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Age 16, T cholesterol 370mgh/dl , HDL 1.16, LDL 7.36, T Chol/ HDL ratio 7.91, sugar level normal.. Is this very high
Something isn't: adding up. Perhaps typo...your ID info says age 76, not 16. Total cholesterol is given in mg/dl (370 IS high), but other values in mmol/l. However LDL of 7.36 mmol/l (284 mg/dl) is QUITE high, too. Unfortunately your 1.16 mmol/l (44 mg/dl) HDL isn't very far into the protective range. Ratio is high. Notes say you have had heart stent so cholesterol needs to be much lower;need meds. Review with Doc ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Chol 275, tri 66, HDL 65, LDL 187, vldl 13, non HDL chol 210 high chol, but all ratio meet aha guidelines. Anything to worry about?
Lipid panel done. triglycerides 263, HDL 45, LDL 66, cholesterol 163. what would cause the high triglycerides with normal values otherwise?
It's possible to have isolated, high triglycerides. If that value was from a non-fasting test, and if you had a fatty meal before the test was done, you could see an isolated high trig level. But triglycerides at that level suggest that there may be an abnormality with lipid metabolism. Please be sure to follow up with your doctor about the results. Hope this helps. ...Read more
Cardiologist- cholesterol total 157mg, tryglycerides 78mg, HDL 41mg, LDL 100mg, vldl 16mg. Is this normal? 28 years old female.
Normal Lipid Levels: For a 26 years old female your numbers seem to be almost normal except your triglycerids are marginally elevated.Your total cholesterol is very desirable, HDL 41 though not bad can be better, the higher the better.Your LDL level at 100 is normal, we like it below 100.If you do not have any other risk factors like obesity, family history, smoking, diabetes and hypertension then you can live with with it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My fasing sugar is 142mg,/dl, s.cholestrol 211, s.triglycerides 267, HDL cholestrole 36, LDL cholestrol 146? Are these levels normal?
Metabolic Syndrome.: These numbers are not normal. In fact, they seem very consistent with something called metabolic syndrome - high blood sugar, high cholesterol, high LDL, high triglycerides, low HDL. It's linked to high insulin levels in the blood and, as you can imagine, is very atherogenic. If you're overweight, losing weight will certainly help this. ...Read more

No: At your age, kidney function is usually starting to drop of. And/or you may simply be physically fit and decently muscled. When I was lifting weights daily, I ran 1.7-1.8. I see you have hepatitis C and cirrhosis. See if you can get into one of these new studies with the meds that usually cure it. Best wishes. ...Read more
