Normal Iron Level Blood
Ferritin, hematocrit, hglobin normal. Hematocrit 44. Will iron increase it? Serum iron low. Rbc count normal and above.
Why do you ask?: This is almost certainly the right hematocrit for your body. No "pop" remedy is going to increase it; if you are seeking to raise it artificially for an athletic competition, you'll have to ask elsewhere. Loading up on iron is likely to make you sick, both acutely (upset stomach) and long-term (iron-overload still kills plenty of men). ...Read more
100mg/dL or less: Physicians measure patient's fasting blood glucose. This is the blood sugar taken when the patient hasn't had food or drink for at least 8 hours. "normal" is considered to be 100mg/dl or less. There is a little leeway before a level is high enough to raise concern and necessitate intervention though. A non-fasting blood sugar - or random should be less than 150... Especially 2 hours after you eat. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Recent labs showed high platelets high iron high tibc low normal ferritin level of 12 is this iron deficiency ?
Likely: The best test for iron deficiency anemia (ida) is ferritin. Sometimes when there is inflammation (an possible associated anemia of chronic disease/inflammation, the ferritin may increase as an acute phase reactant). The "gold standard" for diagnosis is a bone marrow biopsy, but rarely needed. High platelets are also associated with ida. Treatment should improve platelets and ferritin. ...Read more

What might cause hyperthyroid, high anti-centromere b antibodies, enlarged red blood cells and high iron saturation, normal serum iron, low TIBC/UIBC?
THIS IS A "LONGSHOT": but this set of symptoms (SYNDROME) sound like HASHIMOTO's THYROIDITIS and PERNICIOUS Macrocytic anemia also may be AUTO-IMMUNE!!! in nature ie: the body falsely detects NORMAL TISSUE as being "FOREIGN" and develops auto-antibodies against (in this case) your thyroid gland and your bone marrow) This is a guess....just a "thought"..hope it helps! Need more info: Do you have a chronic illness? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the limited data you provided suggests anemia of chronic illness. It would be prudent to consult the doctor who ordered the tests. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more
Normal hemoglobin, lower than normal MCH and MCHC). Serum ferritin in low normal range(40). What could it mean?
Stop worrying: You may have a very mild thalassemia variant. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. Ask your physician whether you have "thal minor" -- simply so that you'll know in case you are thinking of marrying someone else with it. ...Read more
Recent labs showed high platelets (416), high iron (148), high tibc (475), but a low normal ferritin level (12). Is this iron deficiency?
Suspect so: If the serum iron is in micrograms/dl, then this is not high but within the normal range, as it can be in iron deficiency in which the patient has perhaps taken an iron tablet or eaten steak recently. If the units for TIBC are micrograms/dl, then TIBC is distinctly high and this speaks for iron deficiency in any case. Don't treat iron deficiency without seeking a cause. ...Read more

Need to examine:
It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Two likely causes are cyanotic heart disease and Raynauds phenomenon. The former is less likely if the symptoms are of recent onset. Visit this site for information on the later issue
