Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I am 5 weeks pregnant and my hcg level was 41 at 4 weeks and 4 days then it went to 65 at 4 weeks 5 days is that normal?

Doubling: It's a bit peculiar that your labs were drawn only one day apart. In general we recommend labs to be drawn two days apart and expect your values to double so this is hard to interpret. Most likely it's normal but the only way to be sure is to continue monitoring for a rising trend and an intrauterine pregnant via ultrasound when your value reaches 1500-200miu/ml. Good luck! ...Read more

Statistically same: The blood HCG value should double every 48 to 72 hours and your value is statistically the same or flat. Your OB MD will probably repeat the HCG test in one week to see if there is a change. Contact the OB MD if bleeding occurs or you pass greyish tissue vaginally. ...Read more

5 weeks pregnant beta hcg level is 132.9 spotting from 3 days rh factor of mine is -ve and my hubby is +ve so got ntt injection can my pregnancy grow?

Yes!: It's still possible that your pregnancy is ok. Now it will be important to check the hcg doubling time. Your hcg should double in about 3 days at this stage of your pregnancy, so I'm sure your doctor has ordered a follow up test to find out. Keep a positive attitude, get lots of rest, and stay healthy. And remember, if the pregnancy doesn't make it, it was nothing you or your hubby did wrong! ...Read more

I am 37.5 weeks pregnant. The hospital I went to shows no signs of a fetus. My hCG levels are normal and I have ultrasound pics from my doctor.?

???: Don't know what you mean "hospital shows no signs of a fetus". An ultrasound was done showing an empty uterus? "hcg levels are normal" - what does this mean? Hcg is not elevated, i.e., consistent with not being pregnant? If elevated, what's the level? Simply because you have sono pix from your doctor at some point doesn't mean you're still pregnant, but need more information. ...Read more

I'm about 4-5 weeks pregnant they did a sonogram but they see only the sac no baby. It's this normal? My hCG levels keep going up rapidly...

Yes: The gestational sac is the first thing to appear. In a few days, likely they would be able to see a fetal pole, or the beginnings of an embryo. After that, a few days later, a heart beat. Sometimes unfortunately a sac appears but then no fetal pole, so make sure you have a follow up ultrasound to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy. Good luck! ...Read more

5 weeks pregnant HCG levels normal gest. Sac spotted in ER with hem. Cyst and light spotting, is this normal? At risk for miscarriage?

Pregnancy bleeding: Light bleeding is not uncommon early in pregnancy. A normal HCG level and normal gestational sac on ultrasound are reassuring signs even when there is bleeding. A cyst on an ovary at this time is expected as that is what maintains the pregnancy until the placenta takes over. ...Read more

My progesterone was 122 at 5 weeks pregnant. My hCG levels were 978 then 3846. Can this be indicative of twins possibly?

Maybe. Wait n see: Congrats! Looks so far like a good pregnancy. Unfortunately, early pregnancy sometimes leads to miscarriage (20%+. But 30%+ if over 40) or maybe age also leads to a higher chance of twins or multiples!
following the HCG is mostly good for detection of impending miscarriage. In a normal case, a good ultrasound at about 6 1/2 weeks from last menses is most important! ...Read more

Wide variation in: Hcg levels. There is wide variation in HCG levels in normal pregnancies and HCG level is not a reliable indicator of twin pregnancy. You may wish to consult this site for info and see your doctor for an ultrasound exam to look for twins.

About 5 weeks pregnant, my HCG levels are doubling, but now my progestrone levels are slowing going down. First at 16, then 22, 19, 17 now 15.54. Bad?

Can not conclude: Progesterone tests can not be used to make a definitive prediction regarding pregnancy outcomes. A Progesterone less than 5 has a very high chance of being a nonviable pregnancy. A Progesterone level greater than 25 has a high probability of success. Levels between 5-25 are not predictive of outcome. Slight variation in levels is expected. ...Read more

5 weeks pregnant hCG levels at 6500 had a ultrasound they seen a sac but no baby is that ok?

OK: You can't reliably see a baby until 6 or 7 weeks. At 5 weeks one would expect to see a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no baby. If you get another scan in 2 weeks, you would expect to see a baby with a heart-beat. Best wishes! ...Read more

Last year I had an ectopic with only one tube I’m pregnant again and my hcg levels went from 19 to 80 is that bad? I’m 5 weeks pregnant

Sounds promising: Those levels are consistent with an early pregnancy and that is a healthy increase though you do not indicate what the time frame was. Levels should double every 2 to 3 days. You are still at risk for another ectopic until the pregnancy can be documented in the uterus, even with normal increases. ...Read more
