Normal Dose Of Tegratol
Tegretol level.: The dose itself is not a very high dose. Your blood test will tell you if you have taken extra high dose or not. You can change your tegretol to trileptol, which is more safer. The change should be under your doctor's supervision. ...Read more

After being on 600 mg of tegretol for 4 years dr. Reduced to 400mg. Is it normal to feel out of sorts and nauseas for a few days?
From your other post: At first glance my instinct was to say, "maybe" IF the reduction from 600 to 400 mg. Was being done in one fell swoop & you'd developed a rebound reaction or symptoms of whatever the Tegretol was controlling. However, then, I saw you asked in another posted question something to do with taking Tegretol & Lamictal TOGETHER. I think that could also be very important as related to nauseousness. ...Read more

I use 100 lamictal. 600 tegretol...Probably 50 lamictal because tegretol breaks it down in half. Am I even getting a therapeutic dose of lamictal?
If you are having poor seizure control then your aeds need re-evaluation if not then your current treatment may be appropriate
the combination can also be used for bipolar disorder. Most psychiatriast evaluate these drugs by the level of mode stabilization and use levels to monitor for toxicity. If your mood is still not stable discuss with your doc about adjusting dose. ...Read more
If tegretol lowers the level of celexa would not it lower the dose of Lexapro (escitalopram)....and by how much.
The same impact: Actual impact not quantitatively predictable. The manufacturer of both citalopram and escitalopram did not feel the impact to be significant. Tegretol can increase the clearance of both by inducing the enzyme CYP450 3A4. If you are experiencing increased symptoms your caregiver should be alerted so that you can discuss dose adjustments. ...Read more
? restless leg: Although tegretol is used to treat seizures it is also used for other conditions such as bipolaar disorder and restless leg syndrome. If you are having sleep disturbances then I suspect that your doctor prescribed it to treat restless leg and help with your sleep. Can tegretol or klonopin (clonazepam) cause suicidal ideation /just strange thoughts even at low doses?
Klonopin (clonazepam): Especially can cause changes in mentation (it is a sedative). Tegretol, a non-habit-forming anti-epileptic is less likely to do this, but it does change brain function. There is not a lot of difference between tegretol doses that are effective and those that cause side effects (sluggish thinking, and many other side effects). ...Read more

Cymbalta (duloxetine) 60/tegretol 400 /lamictal 100/klonopin 1.0 at 9am. Missed dose of lamictal yesterday. Did not feel so anxious. ..Is this possible?
Yes.: It takes a while, missing lots of doses before the symptom you were trying to relieve will reappear. It sounds like you're on it as a mood stabilizer. Just take the medicine when you realize you've missed it and take the next dose on the same scheduled dose. ...Read more
Take cymbalta (duloxetine) 60, lamictal 100, tegretol 600, klonopin 2.5 for OCD and mood. Is this a safe combination. And is 60 the usual dose for cymbalta (duloxetine)?
Seems fine: These dosages seem to be workable although it is an intense combination of mood stabilizers. The dose of duloxetine at 60 mg is at the usual amount for the treatment of a mood disorder although higher dosages are thought to be potentially helpful for the treatment of chronic pain. Stay safe! ...Read more

Klonopin 2.5...Cymbalta (duloxetine) 60...Lamictal 100...Tegretol 600. I am treated for ocd/bipolar...Does this sound like a strange or normal combination?
Not unusual....: It's not unusual to see ocd and bipolar together. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is not my typical "go-to" drug for ocd; but if you have a pain syndrome, it may be the best choice. For ocd, I would first go to an ssri. Lamictal and tegretol can both be good choices; what matters is, is each one helpful? Discuss with your doctor and good luck! ...Read more

See ur NeuroSurgeon: New-onset loss of L foot dorsiflexion after craniotomy may be a complication of surgery, perhaps related to positioning. Older anticonvulsant: Tegretol is an anticonvulsant that is metabolized by the liver that is used for event related (partial) epilepsy. There are significant side effects associated with tegretol, some dose dependant others are idiosyncratic. Should not stop abruptly. ...Read more
Tegretol and ADHD: I have not heard that. There is no recent peer-reviewed research on the matter that I can find. In fact, tegretol (carbamzepine) has multiple case reports of worsening rather than helping tic disorders such as tourette's. I would postulate no benefit in adhd, either, because the mechanism of action and pathways of action are different. ...Read more
An old drug: Tegretol has been on the market for many years. It was one of the first antiseizure medications and is still prescribed pretty frequently. It is not without a slight risk for problems, however. Your doctor checks blood counts looking for signs of anemia or bone marrow problems, liver function tests to make sure the liver isn't affected, and a tegretol level to see how much is in your system. ...Read more
