See a doctor: Without the ability to take a full history and examine you it is nearly impossible to answer this question. Flushing of the face can be due to many different things without affecting your core body temperature. If it persists, please see your local family doctor.

Hi. My normal body temperature is always in the 35s rather than the 36s. Should I be concerned?

Don't Worry: You should mention it & have your regular md record your baseline temp so that if you have what is considered a "normal" they know that indicates a low-grade fever for you. Normal temps, etc. Are averages and some are a little above or below for their normal but knowing your normal will help your doctors treat you better when you have problems.

My body temperature rises while I sleep. Is this normal?

Sleep disorder: Certain sleep disorders can trigger the release of stress hormones (cortisol) which can then cause the production of catecholamines. These can increase heart rate, blood pressure and elevate body temperature...Causing sweating. Someone trained in sleep medicine can order some tests and provide more information, if desired.

Fever: 100.4 F is considered a fever for everyone. We all have a slight variation from 98.6 F which is a statistically derived normal temperature. By convention 100.4 F is deemed an abnormal temperature or a fever. We do not adjust that definition for individuals.

My arm hairs are standing up. And even when I'm at normal body temperature and sometimes I feel them move by them self,?

Arrector pili muscle: You are feeling the Arrector pili muscles in your skin and arms contracting, and causing the hair to stand up. This is part of your normal body temperature regulation, and can happen in warm and cold settings. Do not be alarmed that you have noticed the muscles doing their job, many people are able to perceive this motion. Interestingly, these are the same muscles that give you goose bumps.

Hi - I'm a 44 year old female, smoker - I keep breaking out in a sweat for no reason - however my body temperature is normal - what is it?

Unfortunately: The obvious cause is smoking. The repeated sweating is caused by dysfunction in the autonomic nervous system. This is a nervous system controlled by the lower part of the brain. Smoking causes oxygen deprivation in brain cells, resulting in unwanted activity.

Infant temperature: The accepted temperature for newborns who are 2 to 3 months old is below 100.4 f. Any temperature at that level and above is suspicious for a fever more often from overbundling. Anything else is suspect for an infection.
