Diabetes is a disease of increased blood glucose levels. Glucose is a type of sugar that comes from the intake of food. Insulin is a type of hormone that removes the glucose from the blood and moves it into the cells to provide them with energy. There are two different types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is when the body does not make any insulin. Therefore, glucose stays inside the blood and does not move into the cells. Type 2 diabetes, which is commonly associated with obesity, is when the body is either resistant to the effects of insulin or when the body does not produce enough insulin. Increased levels of glucose in the body causes severe damage to the ...Read more

Any truth to the claim that consuming more fat, include trans fat, and little/no sugar will bring blood glucose level to normal range? Exercise too.
Don't get your life: With diabetes, you need to be monitored closely as you experiment. Don't expect miraculous results from swapping calories from one group to another. It's much more to your credit that you're exercising, and this will be a huge help to you -- as will simply being pro-active about your health. Best wishes. ...Read more
Ideally less than150: But as you know very hard to achieve. But that was not the question you asked. Normal blood stars should not be below 60 though most children will have reactions far above this number because they are used to living too hogh. A low blood sugar reaction is not caused by a number but how rapidly the blood sugar drops do a child may have a reaction at a number of 100 if they were really high before. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What is a normal blood sugar level for a 46 yr. Old male. And is 300-400 too high? Never been diagnosed with diabetes.
2 months ago diagnosed with early stage diabetes, but since have ate right, and exercised. All blood sugar checks now normal. Must i take metaform?
Not necessarily: Congratulations! if you've been taking metformin ; it helped normalize your sugars, you can try stopping it to see if they remain normal (of course tell your doc). If you did not take it then i see no reason at all for you to start now. If everything is normal then you have successfully reversed diabetes ; are no longer diabetic! however, if you don't maintain these positive changes it will recur. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Upper limit of norma: 100 is the upper limit of normal for fasting blood glucose (sugar), we usually recommend repeating a fasting sugar in some time from now and make sure it is not higher. 101 to 127 is pre diabetes and more than 127 is diabetes. There are other ways to see if you have diabetes, like calculating your average blood sugar through a test called a1c. Recommend weight loss if your BMI is higher than 25. ...Read more
